    Default Fragrance institute?

Has anyone visited the fragrance institute, in NYC? If so, is it worth a visit? Any other information I should know? Thanks!

The only thing that comes up on Google is a blog type site. To what are you referring?

    Hi seattlelight,

I wonder if you mean the Fragrance Foundation in New York. I've never been, but I believe it's a large and respected operation.

Yes! I meant the Fragrance Foundation!!

Is that open to the public for visits?

I don't know if it's open to the public. If you hunt around on the (poorly designed) website, there's some information about "The Annette Green Museum at The Fragrance Foundation" (see http://www.fragrance.org/MS_memb.html ), but it seems this is only open to members. Perhaps you should email or call -- 212-725-2755; info@fragrance.org -- to find out more.

I paid them a visit in the year 2000, got all the way up to the 9th floor (145 East 32nd Street, NYC), but they wouldn't let me in. I was mainly interested in their library, which contained some interesting essays by Constance Classen (I couldn't find them anywhere else at the time). They told me that access was restricted to "industry people" only.

I don't know if things have changed in the meantime, but I no longer need their help. I've started a perfume library of my own, which I can consult whenever I like.

I received this response to my email:

The Fragrance Foundation is not open to the public. The Annette Green Fragrance Museum is no longer housed at the foundation but has moved to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.
