I'm with Tigs - gentle Hiris on a chilly, windy, grey day.
Sakecat - here in German-speaking Switzerland the opening of the Bavarian Octoberfest just across the border was televised last weekend and all week there have been regular programmes featuring dirndls, lederhosen and steins. It looks very tempting! Maybe next year - it'll take me that long to find a babysitter.

    Lalique Le Parfum

but the curious thing about this fragrance is that after about 15 minutes of wearing it I no longer smell it on my skin. I know that it's there because I every now and then catch whiffs of it in the air around me, but no matter who hard I try pressing my nose to my skin I smell nothing. This is pretty rare for me, but same thing happens with Ormonde Woman.

    Any comments on that?

The German Armed Forces Command base near the airport hosted the one I attended this year. Any dirndls and lederhosen were worn by Americans in costume rather than Germans in traditional dress. All of the Germans were in their military uniforms. It was essentially a drinking event rather than a "cultural" event. Lots of steins though.....

Oh - and my Dad used to drag us to Oktoberfests when we were kids (9-10 years old or so) as part of our "cultural exposure". I will admit, it was mighty interesting, if only to dream that one day I too could drink beer upside down without spilling it all over myself.

If the Oktoberfest near you has more acts (I doubt that they are just televising beer drinking), and your kids are old enough - it might be interesting to take them too. They might not enjoy it at the time, but they'll remember the experience as an adult.

"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." Today I'm wearing the perfume equivalent of a luxuriant cashmere sweater - Frédéric Malle's Iris Poudre. The aldehydes make me a little queasy at first, but once I get used to it the fragrance is just stunning. Thanks to CologneJunkie for giving me this sample! I am hoping to get a full bottle of this someday.

Getting cozy for the evening in, of watching movies and munching on popcorn with hubby; changed into Bijan Wicked, only it really isn't all that wicked and it smells like a fabulous blend of Narciso Rodriguez and Eau de Charlotte by Annick Goutal.

I get a wonderful dry hey note, something chocolaty and a hint of jasmine waffting in and out. I know that this one never gets any great reviews but I really love it! oh and so does he
