I personally prefer Avignon. I was excited to try Cardinal but ultimately wasn't very impressed by it at all and had some serious longevity issues with it. Avignon seems to have a very "airy/sharp/cold" vibe to it and I prefer that to Cardinal's "light warm and sunny". feeling.

Perhaps I had just the wrong expectations but I didn't expect Cardinal to be so much "lighter" feeling than Avignon. They're both very nice scents but if I had to take one and toss the other. I'd stick with Avignon.

When I first tested Cardinal, I thought it was a must buy - a sunny Avignon without the heavy, dusty weight of Catholicism. However, on the drydown it didn't hold up so well and became a bit hmmm not unpleasant exactly, but perhaps a tiny bit cloying. If I was a real incense head, I'd get them both, and Cardinal is more reasonably priced, but going head-to-head, I'd say another vote for Avignon.
