Default Guerlain Vetiver minus the Vetiver = L'Eau de Gouverneur.

The off-putting sweet top notes of EdG last for about 30 seconds and then it transforms itself Guerlain Vetiver's base. Nutmeg and tobacco, yes!

What a coincidence - I was at Brownes & Co. (on Lincoln Road) this past weekend having lunch with my little nieces and nephews and they have the whole CSP line there. I purposely picked up LEdG remembering the thread where Dmitri compared it to...Ungaro (I think?).

I thought it was lovely. Herbs and spices and quite dry.

It reminded me of another fragrance, since I haven't smelled Ungaro - but now I can't remember what it was...

Tobacco? Guerlain? Must be the L'Eau de Gouverneur from a parallel universe . I love EdG, while the only thing good about Guerlain Vetiver is the vetiver, the rest nauseates me. I also find GV "wet", and EdG rather "dry".

    OK, I remember..I remember.

I think L'Eau de Gouverneur smells a little like Narciso Rodriguez for Him (with less musk). Ruggles have you smelled NRFH and if so, can you relate?

    Hasty decisions on my part.
You are right about the wetness of GV and the dryness of EdG. But isn't the wetness of GV from the Vetiver? I wrote too soon. I live amongst the NYU campus, on my way home today, I came face-to-face with what EdG is based on and it is POT.
