Default The best scent for this scene

It's a cold winters evening and it's already dark. You're waiting at the bus stop to come home from work and you can see your own breath in the air. Everyone has their gloves, hats and scarfs on keeping them snug and the christmas lights are out. There is a light frost on the ground that cracks beneath your feet as you step. You're thinking of past winters that bring back fond but distant memories of youth and love.

please describe a scent that you think you would want to wear if you were there or that you think captures this moment. thanks very much. :-)

p.s. sorry for bringing christmas up in october. :-)

Burberry for Men (the original -- IF you can find it w/o mortgaging your house).
    Second choice? JHL, no question.
    Third choice? Noir Epices, absolutely.

Bois 1920, Sushi Imperiale. Citrus notes with nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, vanilla. Wears like a holiday comfort scent.

    Dior's Higher.
Really odd to wear under these circumstances, and a scent that gets no attention on the forum at that, but I wore it on a holiday vacation early in my scent discovery history. It was in the northern forest of the Midwest, and wearing Higher I was walking on frozen lakes, climbing snow drifts on old logging trails, gathering and chopping wood, and generally digging the way the high-register citrus of Higher tickled the inside of my nose the same way the cold air did.

I don't own it anymore, but Mont Blanc's Presence worked well in very cold situations like that. It's a very direct pepper scent with a sweetish background. It almost physically made me feel warmer when I wore it. I kind of wish I had it back now.

Hmm....sounds like the holidays! My picks:

    Mechant Loup by L'Artisan.
    Basala by Shiseido.
Obsession for Men by Calvin Klein.
    Jacomo de Jacomo.
    Jaipur by Boucheron.
    John Varvatos.

Those holidays will be here before 'ya know it!!!

Clive Christian X is for the scene where you're waiting for you car (and driver), not for the bus, silly!

Haha, I missed that part. But then, maybe I can only afford taking the bus after buying CC X.

You mean waiting for the bus that is an hour late, a cold wind whipping up your trouser leg freezing you to the spot and the bosses words of "your report is late, I'll be here til eight...working." still ringing in your ears. Damn your computer is still logged on with the Basenotes window open. Ah I know it well. Gotta be chocolate comforting A* Men then.

L'Homme Sage and Villoresi's Sandalo, somehow.

Default Re: The best scent for this scene

Yeah, Sandalo would be great, though it's not outright Christmassy, and also:

Villoresi "Incensi" (cinnamon and ancient resins)
    Cacharel pour homme (nutmeg, woods)
Burberry, "London" (new) (sweet, portwine, christmas spices)
Campagna, "Scilla e Cariddi" (christmassy cloves)
Creed, "Orange Spice" (sweet orange and clove)
L'Etat Libre d'Orange, "Waiting for the bus on a cold winter evening after work thinking of Christmas - with my genitalia exposed" (just kidding)

    Christmas....

...How about a scent that opens with a surge of crisp pine and cedar. At it's heart is an almost clean feeling… like pinecones strewn on brand-new snow on a dark winter's eve. At the base is birch wood, but not smoky, just the memory of old fragrant fires burned...in the middle of a forest. Clear and clean with a touch of melancholy.

The notes of the scent are:
White incense, pine, pimento berries, violet, cedar, iris, hinoki wood, & birch wood

    The scent: Zagorsk by CdG

    Merry Christmas

I too agree with Brit, but for something reminiSCENT of times past... Hmmm... Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentree?

As always, disregard most of what I say. It's not worth your heart health to actually worry about what a 23 year old guy from Kansas thinks. Even if he is really ridiculously good looking.

Nicole Fahri Homme, seriously this IS Winter/Christmas in a small glass bottle.

After that I would go for Burberry Brit

Nervous to write this, but... A*Men... I bought it in the winter in Manhattan years ago and now I still think it's perfect for those cold nights when one wants to feel warm and sit in a coffee house doing nothing.

Comme des Garcons Original EdP would work well, too, but isn't quite as "comfortable." Still, it reminds one of the spices used in holiday beverages and baking.
