From the "Only in Japan" Gadget Department:
The Japanese automaker Subaru just developed a personalized deodorizer system for your car, called SpotScents. Basically, it's based on the premise that different passengers in each car want to smell different fragrances. Each SpotScents device blasts scent on your head, and is designed for one person only (so a four-seater would have four SpotScents deivces). No word on whether Subaru plans to bring this to North America or Europe, where people don't go out of their way to avoid perfume like in Japan.
More info (from CNET News.com) is available here.
Hey, Subaru... you sell a lot of cars in the USA (and have a plant in Indiana, too), and people love smellies here, so why not offer it as a factory-installed accessory in your Legacys, Outbacks, and Tribecas? For that matter, why not partner with several fragrance companies to offer scent cartridges aimed at American tastes (sold online and through Subaru dealers)?

As an owner of a recently Outback wagon, I would say that rather than car smells they concentrate on gas mileage.
