    I suppose ETRO Mahogany is supposed to smell eponymously, but to me it's like a mad scientist's olfactory recreation of a lumber yard. O yes, I do want do get rid of it do I ever...

    Exactly....When i read this i asked myself....What the hell does 'mahogany' smell like?

    I always thought mahogany was some kind of dark wood.....Gosh....its a fragrance 'note' too.....

    oops...thats self explainatory....a 'woody' note?

    Well, I've certainly smelled cedar, juniper, guiacwood, palisander and others . . . but mahogany eludes me.
    Isn't it kind of sweet but woody? I can't remember.

    I'm pretty sure mahogany is a synthetic note in perfumery... as far as I know, there's no such thing as mahogany essential oil. Different perfumers have a different take on mahogany smells like, as far as I've seen. Some people say there's a strong mahogany note in Santal Noble, but I don't smell it myself.

    Ralph Lauren - Purple Lable has a prominent mahogany note.
