Mike Perez already nailed it with Baie de Genievre! I don't think SMW is very masculine, btw.
    Lately I've been wearing:
Windsor, Bois de Santal, Original Santal, Elixir, Douro, Endymion, Reflection, Arcus, Marwah

    Oh! And Black Tourmaline, too.

I agree with Scentronic, by the way: Silver Mountain Water is pretty androgynous. Erolfa would be a more obviously "masculine" alternative.

    Along with Creed BdG,

I'd also recommend Santos Concentree (Cartier)

    Luxury/opulence bottled.

Interesting that you didn't mention your No. 1 Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme in this category, which I think it deserves, along with JHL and Heritage, to be in this group. It's status is now heightened here in NYC since it is so difficult to find.

Find a bottle of Jean Patou Pour Homme...

or, if you cannot find/afford Patou Pour Home, settle for Santos (Cartier) which is not such a bad settlement.

Second the Patou Pour Homme. PM me if you want a sample.
Also the Baie de Genièvre by Creed. I am trying this one just today and loving it. If I was to suggest something more modern, I might suggest Helmut Lang for Men or his Cuiron. Both are excellent, luxurious, and very masculine.

A lot of good suggestions in this thread - quite a few that I have not yet tried.

I consider these to be luxurious and masculine(on my skin anyway):

    JHL
    Antaeus
    Santal Noble
    Equipage
    Ambre Sultan

Azzaro Pour Homme - Good anytime really. Spicy and warm but never obnoxious if you keep the sprays to a bare minimum - for me it's just one and I'm done. More versatile than it gets credit for, "opens up" nicely in heat but can take the edge off a bitterly cold climate as well.

Lagerfeld Classic - I love and wear Shalimar but this registers as a ballsier version, an almost-cross between Shalimar and Eau D'Hermes. No cumin to my nose but a faint earthiness amidst the powder and amber - likely courtesy of the oakmoss - and remains balanced and well-behaved amidst the cavalcade of notes. Again, one spray's enough. Seriously.

Knize Ten - Leather and solvents anyone? No wonder I don't work in advertising...

Puig Agua Lavanda - Hey, good enough for Ol' Blue Eyes. 'Nuff said.

Trumper Wellington, Silvester - Silvester available only now as an A/S apparently...hope that changes but still well worth it. Wellington's apparently great for Blenheim Bouquet fans, can't personally speak to that just yet;-).

Tabac Original - One of the best ways to convey maturity and taste on a budget. May make you seem older but that's everyone else's loss. A must if you don't mind florals.

Creed Epicea, Acier Aluminium, Bois De Cedrat - pine/spice, amber/musk and lemon/cedar respectively. Less commercial and crowd-pleasing than the Millesimes but worth sampling if only to see what Creed was once capable of.

Davidoff Zino - Flowers, woods and musk with a dark, autumnal depth. Couldn't imagine Davidoff releasing this 15 years ago let alone today.

Ungaro III - Maybe not quite the olfactory opus I initially thought - my over-the-top review should probably have been written for C & S No. 88 - but warm, understated and MUCH better than a lot of what passes for luxurious and masculine these days and worth owning.
Loves of Late: Agua Lavanda, Eau Sauvage, Gendarme, Guerlain Vetiver, Guerlain EdC Imperiale, Ivoire de Balmain, Kenzo PH, Mitsouko, Royall Lyme, Tabac Original

Maybe its a matter of semantics I think of VC&A as prim&proper/elegant/conservative. There was a thread a while ago where fragrances were compared to countries, and buzzlepuff made the comparison of VC&A to Canada (well at least the pre-1990 image of prim&proper, militant-free Canada). I totally agree with this comparison. VC&A rarely inspires visceral hatred. Again, same as Canada - doesn't mean it has its own unique personality.

To me "luxuruy" has a connotation of decadence/sensual excess. Santos fits this bill. If it were a "country", I should associate it with Louis XIV' France or with ancient persia itself. (the thread was started by someone from persia)

I admit that Luxury is something about the peaks, and the after any peak there will be a fall. What you mentioned is the last part of the peak, but I'm thinking about being for long time in the peak, like the several hundred years of dominance of Persian empire on civilized parts of the world. Thank you for remembering my History Lessons!

Now my problem is that, all of the Cartier products are available here, EXCEPT Santos!!!
I'm looking for it. I became more corious about it specially when I saw Sephora had it ONLINE! (Sephora online is FASTIDIOUS about classical perfumes IMHO)

It might not be the most expensive thing in the world, but I wore M7 after showering with the body wash and--hot DAMN--it was quite luxurious, if I must say. Very masculine, sensual, and complex.

I would also second Chanel Antaeus.

Although not terribly masculine, but more so than SMW, you might want to try Creed's Millesime Imperial or Chanel's Cuir de Russie.

Clive Christian number 1 is extreemly overrated in my opinion. I had a bottle and swapped it to Buffalo Gals. It was ok but a bit to floral and feminine for my taste. I agree with JHL as well. I wore it to work the other day and one of the gals said she was walking past me again just to " smell me". I don't think it was my shampoo that got her attention.
Actually I like Tricorn by caswell massey and the Older version of Greenbrier not the newest one. They changed the formula and really screwed up royally when they did.

Thumbs up Re: Need suggestion for something Luxurious and Masculine

I agree with all who said Habit Rouge but, EDP not EDT. Better alcohol enhanced cinnamon and wood. Don't know why this is not marketed in the U.S. It is worth the bother of international order, increased expense and shipping and, I would not say this if I was not sold on this fragrance. It is absolutely marvelous! IMO the best mens fragrance from Guerlain.
