Default Would you buy a scented cellphone?

Sony has released a telephone marketed for women. The phone has a fragrance, and you can choose from 11 different scents.

Sadly,I don't read Japanese, so I can't tell you what's going on at the Sony site. (Perhaps one of our Japanese forum members can help?) I'm not convinced by the concept - surely genuine fragrance lovers want something that smells *different* day to day? What do you think?

It took me years to buy a regular cell phone and even now I keep forgetting that I have it, so no. I'd rather spend that money on something like a new bottle of perfume, right.

Why not just spray some on the cell phone? I did that once by accident, scent lasted a few days.

Japanese schoolgirl trend ? The coloured covers are pretty cool, but as apple pie is one of the fragrance choices, not on a bet!

It might be nice to get a phone cover made of cotton or something that you could spray your scent on. Then you could change it whenever you liked.

Oh dear, I've just had a scary thought. If these things take off you know who's going to be doing fragrances for them? Got to be Paris Hilton. And would you want to talk into Paris Hilton's Can Can?

No. I am almost always well scented...I don't need to compete with a phone.

Thanks Squeeze - that was fun!

There was an article in a recent issue of The New Yorker about the company that pipes scents into big public spaces, the owner of which believes that scented everything is the wave of the future. This may be the light approaching at the end of the tunnel.....
