Default Any suggestions for a high quality, clean fragrance?

I need something light in my wardrobe that I can go to after a heavy duty Lutens/Oriental binge. I blind ordered Gendarme Grabazzi. I hope this was a wise choice. Any suggestion for a high quality neutral fragrance? Nothing bright, sharp, citrus loaded, gourmand, etc. Thanks.

Some "citrus" but not "loaded": Gendarme ?

    Ruggles,

A "high quality, clean fragrances," "Nothing bright, sharp, citrus loaded, gourmand . . ." doesn't leave one many options to suggest something, but here it goes anyway:

    Keiko Mecheri Musc EDP

A simple, clean, freshly-washed-bed-sheets, and unobtrusive musk fragrance.

A 'clean' fragrance that is not 'bright' is extremely hard to find...I think you are familiar with the L'Artisan line Ruggles, aren't you?

I think they have great clean fragrances that meet your criteria - if you don't mind the average longevity of most L'Art's.

Two that are right up your alley are: L'Eau de L'Artisan and Ananas Fizz.

You need a lavender. Possibly Trumpers?

Bvlgari Pour Homme, maybe? It's a light tea/musk fragrance that I enjoy.

Bulgari Pour Homme - light, crisp, effervescent fougere, loaded with quality.

Gendarme EDP - classified as citrus but it's mainly just a Gendarme, and everybody should own a Gendarme. They're far more satisfying than purported. I could wear them almost exclusively even though I generally prefer much more subtantial fragrances. Gendarme V's excellent but it contains civet and you might not like that. Grabazzi didn't do much for me but I can't remember why. Just sort of weak and non-descript as I recall. I need to try it again. I haven't tried Gendarme 20 EDP and the rest.

You will do fine with Grabazzi because its not as sterile as Gendarme. I love Grabazzis spicy kick of pepper and carnation melded with the floral freshness of lavender.

Also try MPG Fraicheur Muskissime (black/red currants + musk) and Creeds Silver Mountain Water (black currant, tea, musk) which to me are the two best black currant scents. Terre D'Hermes is another light fragrance with substance; I dont get a lot of citrus notes from it .. its mostly a mineralic-vetivery frag with hints of sweet benzoin on my skin.

Thumbs up Re: Any suggestions for a high quality, clean fragrance?

Some not yet mentioned; D'Orsay's Arome 3 and Etiquette Bleue (it's not a citrus fragrance, whatever they say), CSP's Musc Alizee, Mure et Musc, Trumper's Spanish Leather (indeed!), Helmut Lang Men and above all Divine's L'Homme de Coeur.

I feel I succeeded very well in capturing the essence of this question, I have to say.

I second Silver Mountain Water, Mure et Musc and Fraicheur Muskissime, and add Erolfa. Others worth considering:

    Iris Bleu Gris
Yerbamate (smoky green, off dry, with a beautiful drydown)
L'Ombre dans l'Eau (woods and rose, neither particularly sweet nor heavy)
Voleur de Roses (if you like patchouli)
Tam Dao or Padparadscha (dry, dry cedar)
Knize Forest (a refreshing stroll through a pine forest)
Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Padme Lotus (bracing, refreshing, sugar-free lotus)

Hey Ruggles, what about Light Blue by D&G (the regular for women, not the LB for Men - that was horrible)?

I agree with Helmut Lang Cologne, Etiquette Bleue (if you like neroli), and Arome 3 (though this one isn't all that clean). Guerlain's Eau du Coq or Imperiale, if you dig classic EdCs.
de Nicolai's Haute Provence is a soothing, smooth lavender. Kiehl's musk is quite subtle on me.

Two sleepers I enjoy a lot are Rodier pour homme and Brooksfield Men. Subtle, but in no way boring.
