Default BN Flavors of the Month. Past and Present

Someone got me thinking about this in the GG thread. Yeah we really do start talking about one or too fragrances for a while, then hear nothing about them for a long time. Can anyone remember all of the past forum flavors?

    1) Rive Gauche as a result of the bite story.
    2) Black Aoud as a result of the Montale sale (imo)

As always, disregard most of what I say. It's not worth your heart health to actually worry about what a 23 year old guy from Kansas thinks. Even if he is really ridiculously good looking.

The Montale sale got me into Montales which then got me into Rose which expanded into Le Labo vs Domenico Caraceni vs No 88 vs others.

Since I've been around, it seems like Rive Gauche has been a constant and not so much a flavor.

Ok, Ok, so my list was a little long. Those were all fads, but there are fads and then there are the big boys. I'd say the top 5 or so that I remember are Vetiver, M7, Rive Gauche, Terre, and GIT. Honorable mention to Envy, Dior Homme, and Antaeus.

Around the latter part of 2004, I believe
it was Paul G. who indrouced...
    Piper Nigrum
    1999
    Lorenzo
    Villoresi

to all of us and the boards, did
    they buzzz.
It was a nice find for me -
    tanks Paul.
The boards were so much different
    then...

This was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks everyone!

It's funny, I think pretty much whenever there's a new flavor/craze on BN is when I end up buying that scent. But hey, I trust you guys more than myself.....for now.

Basenotes sometimes feels more like "Creednotes".
    Silver Mountain Water
    Green Irish Tweed
    Millésime Impérial
    Virgin Island Water
The Creed talk has quieted down in the last 6 months.

There was definitely a big Rose phare...No. 88, Voleur, Rose D'Homme.

Back when this was a Yahoo Group...it was all about A*men...I wanted to puke everytime I read that word.

Was that "puke" an EdP or EdT?

Caboose is right, one of the biggest flavors of the month that I remember was Piper Nigrum. It was a mighty wave, but that wave floated all Lorenzo Villoresi's boats too, and the flavor of another of those months was LV Musk.

There was also a time when SMN was all the discussion, especially which of the two musks was better. Maybe this never got to flavor of the month status but there was still a lot of wearing them and answering questions of why that one and not the other.

There was also a Platinum Egoiste wave, followed quite promptly by the anti-Platinum Egoiste wave.

    Fun and funny times.

One that hasn't been mentioned is Guerlain Vetiver - and it's many love / hate / reformulations / Extreme / Ice / blah, blah, blah threads and comments.

Guerlain Vetiver fans take this scent very seriously.

I most vividly remember the Black Orchid ballyhoo and the M7 fuss (the latter more than once).

Ah, yes...LOTS of discussion on Guerlain's Vetiver...and a ton on Platinum Egoiste...I remember thinking I NEEDED to own this. There was also a lot of huff on L'eau D'hadrian and much bantering about CDG...especially when the Red Series came out...and again when the Insence series came out.

Oh, and I almost forgot...the Dior Homme trio.

How could we forget TEA FOR TWO!? That one took a loooong time to die down. I think EnvYus started it.

That one and Geir are so easy to overlook, but MAN were they ever big.

Let's see, we have a little bit of a Black Tourmaline and Tom Ford for Men thing going right now, but in the past I can recall waves of interest in:

    M7
    Kingdom
    Black Orchid
    Chergui
    Kouros (love and bashing)
    Terre d'Hermes

and, most tiresome for me, anything Creed.

I was going to post this topic about 10 mins before you did yesterday!
The title I had typed out was letter for letter and punctuation mark for punctuation mark exactly the same!!!!

    Most people have covered them.
But the flavor of the months that really got MASSIVE coverage where....

    GIT
    M7

    Massive coverage.

There hasnt been much GIT coverage for a while now though.
