Let me jump in here. ..I put in the initial post for the second winner that thy have all the answers right or closest to it. You did not have to have ALL the answers right to be in the running for this one-but you did have to attempt them...the winners were selected randomly.....

The answers will be forth coming next week..give me a few days.

    Peace,

I am ABSOLUTELY sure thats where i went wrong....I looked and looked but coudnt find this...I found this list of Chandler's top ten but there was no mention of any ingredient in there....i am curious to know what it was?

I too was stuck with 5A but with the help of a hint i guessed it, though nowhere on the internet i could find that D&G Light Blue was thought upon as a unisex fragrance....It was the only D&G launched in the year 2001 so i had no trouble guessing...Besides i wear it too....so i thought it must have been perceived as unisex by others too :-)

Overall a fun quiz.....and ofcourse Congratulations to the lucky winners --Miakulpa & ChrisW...

I also guessed D&G Light Blue but submitted my entry before Otto could send me a clue. As for 4D, I'm surprised none of you knew the answer was vetiver...

    Oh, congratulations ChrisW and MiaKulpa!

I was stumped on 5A, but after a hint from Otto decided it had to be Light Blue.
I chose the same answers for the same reason.

    Bigarade??????????????
I just read Chandlers description of the 'Bigarade' again and he says:
"......and also it seems to have just rained because there's the scent of rainwater on pavement and perhaps a bit of ozone, plus some flower petals and grass that got washed into the puddle they're stepping in....."

So, maybe Bigarade is right after all

it sure sounds like it would be bigarde, but vetiver makes more sense with the horse hint. but i found a quote where burr says he *hates* vetiver, the note and including the guerlain fragrance.

eh, might as well wait for otto to give an official answer and explanation rather than give ourself strokes trying to figure it out.

I'm pretty sure the answer for 4(d) is pure extract of hay. It's in his list of ten favorites that appears in the appendix to The Emperor of Scent; the other nine items listed are fully-composed perfumes rather than ingredients.
    Spray it, don’t say it…

    Bingo....

I am sure that is what it is....
Hint no. 1 was...pure extract of.............
    Hint no. 2 was...what horses eat H _ _

I did eventually guess HAY but pure extract of HAY?
It just didnt make sense to me....besides nowhere online i could find any mention of 'pure extract of hay' as being Chandler's favorite

Yes, I do. Thanks for thanking the peeps for me haha. Also, I had to do some google search and wikipedia reading to find out that Jimmy Choos only makes woman's shoes, and then I got the joke lol.

And to Otto, I'm excited to try them, and I think I can learn to at least respect and admire these fine fragrances. I think I will be able to learn to like them. I've been reading up the all the reviews I can find in trying to give my nose a sense of the scent.

I've tried Platnium Egoiste before and actually liked it alot. I was debating on owning that over the Egoiste (almost) blind buy. I'm very glad I went with Egoiste, but there was always a 'what if..' in my mind. I'm happy that I can now own both.

Anteaus-- When I tried it I had Anteaus on one wrist and Egoiste on the other. Egoiste absolutely blew me away. The two are so different that it was perhaps a little unfair having them fight over each other. With a full wearing, I can hopefully see what everyone on the boards have been talking about lately. I hope I don't jinx myself, but after reading all the hype, I'm going to have to give it a full run through and this will likely be the first one I spray.

Heritage-- This is the wildcard for me! I have no idea what to expect at ALL. The reviews have me intrigued, but with trepidation. It seems that many of the members reviews' that I look up to had this grow on them. My only experience with Guerlain is with Vetiver, but I have heard/read many things about this prestigious house, and am eager to become better acquainted. I just hope I can pronounce it correctly lol. GEAR-lan. haha, boy I'm tired.

Thanks for the kind wishes from everyone. Time to take a nap and then wake up for some breakfast and class!

Thanks for all the effort and enthousiasm you have put in this, Otto.

It was an entertaining and educational experience. I really loved it

Sooo, the devious 4D was indeed Pure Extract of Hay and not Bigarade I don't think I will ever forget that one.
