Today I ordered MPG Ambre Précieux and Carthusia Numero Uno. I have smelled the first but never got around to buying it, and I've read lots of good things about the other.

Any words about Numero Uno from you guys out there?

Yes, I own Numero Uno and love it. I think Dmitri just got some also. We discussed it on this thread here.

Oh, my! I did it again. I went to Neiman's and got Tom Ford Extreme. Then I went to Barney's, and they had gotten in the Cereus pour Homme series; I got #11. Then I just had to stop at Bloomie's and pick up F pour Homme by Ferragamo.

I hope a few other people get Christmas presents from me...

After all the recommendations on the classics I decided to go for Givenchy Gentleman and Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme, and added Valentino's Vendetta for fun

So I went out and bought some gifts for other people, and then I bought myself Kouros. This is pretty ludicrous, because in classical Greek kouros means "a lad," and I myself am getting a bit long in the tooth! But I have never owned it before, so I figured I had better get it while I can...

I ordered some classic rose water for my gift bags I'm making, and I should receive my Grey Flannel, and my other half's Stetson gift set today (I know it's maligned here, but it smells wonderful on him). Now I just need a good source for bay rum and lilac vegetal, and my vintage goodie bags will be complete.

    Bulgari Black.
A co-worker wore it to an office party and I had to ask him what it was. Besides that one whiff I bought it online completely blind.

This week I bought Guess Men (green bottle). Nice casual scent. I also picked up Eau de Cartier, JV and KC NY in a deal with a B'Noter.

Polo DBlack on the way, as well.

For Christmas, I want Narciso and TFord. My wife and I are going to the ATL so hopefully I'll help her pick those up.

Vanilla Grapefruit by Lavanila - from another Basenoter.

I've spoken about this scent before - the combination of the sweet vanilla and the tart and almost juicy grapefruit notes creates a great tart/sweet combination. Kind of like a grapefruit sugar cookie, if such a thing existed. The trick is to not over apply.

Not the most dramatic and complex scent fragrance choice I will admit, but sometimes I just wanna smell like a cookie.

In a similar note - I tried Derring-Do by Ineke today. It came from a sample, but after trying it, I bought a bottle with my last chance at 25% off at BeautyHabit. Fresh citrus opening (not sure lemon or grapefruit) but well balanced. I like this one a lot! In this case, a little over-application won't hurt because it's not very overpowering. Stays close to the skin.

The last day of the month, but I got in under the wire with a beautiful fresh bottle of Dunhill for Men from the shop on Fifth Avenue. I fought my way through the milling throng of tourists to land one of the few precious bottles left on the planet. A nice gentleman from Texas or Oklahoma who bought over a thousand dollars worth of gloves started asking why I was so pleased with this modest purchase. I told him the Dunhill '34 story and the fact that these are the last bottles left, and he tried it and bought one too. Good man!
