Thread: most unique scents
So guys, the department stores around here only carry Calvin Klein and other mainstream brands like that. I'm looking to stray away from the norm a little bit and explore some fragrances that are really classy and unique.
So then, my question to you is, what is the most invigorating and stimulating scent that you've ever experienced?
Black Orchid by Tom Ford is pretty friggin unique.
I wore Czech & Speake Cuba today -- it's one of the most unique fragrances I own. It's also unique in that few people seem to own it.
Christian Dior VetiverPatou Pour HommeChristian Dior Leather OudOrmonde Jayne Ormonde ManSerge Lutens Chene
In terms of uniqueness, I'd say LV Piper Nigrum, L'Artisan Dzing!, and Serge Lutens Gris Clair.
I'll second Black Orchid, Yatagan, and i'll also add Fleur Du Male and Egoiste.
Are you not entertained??? Is this not why you are here??
I'll second Dzing! but with a warning that it's quite sweet. My list, from your requirements:
Avignon by Comme des Garçons
This is a frankincense fragrance that captures the real thing extremely well, but isn't heavy at all; it fades to a smooth, herbal finish rather than a dense oriental one. The most "stimulating" of the ones I've listed.
Lonestar Memories by Tauer
This is ostensibly a leather fragrance, but there are many unusual notes in here. The scent is smoky, earthy, herbal, and slightly meaty at the same time. The effect is very unique, and I doubt you'll run across many wearing this.
Cuir d'Iris by Parfumerie Generale
This fragrance can be hard to find, but is worth looking for. Fresh, rooty, green iris root - not a floral scent - with a realistic leather note that manages to be fresh while being rich and warm at the same time. This is beginning to turn into my "confidence cologne", and I've yet to smell anything remotely similar.
It's not classy, it's downright evil.
Salvador Dali Pour Homme
You won't smell these (or anything much like them) on every Tom, Dick, and Harry. That also means it takes some guts to wear them.
Muscs Koublai Khan, Tubereuse Criminelle, and Chene by Serge Lutens
Idole de Lubin
Parfum d'Habit and Jardin du Nil by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
Black Aoud and Aoud Cuir d'Arabie by Montale
Nuit Noire by Mona di Orio
Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone
Charogne by Etat Libre d'Orange
Carnal Flower and Musc Ravageur from Frederic Malle

Iris Silver Mist
"PLAIN LIVING, HIGH THINKING" O.W., De Profundis
Real beauty: 1) Frederic Malle 1-20 2) Chanel Egoiste 3) YSL Opium pour Homme edp 4) TF Noir de Noir
Noses: 1) Jacques Cavallier 2) Maurice Roucel
For me, I think it's Eau des Merveilles.
Shiseido Basala and Feminite du Bois
YSL Rive Gauche, M7, Opium and Kouros
CDG 2, Avignon
Black Aoud and C&S No. 88 are both very unique and bewildering.
Another vote for Knize Ten and Yatagan

Cumming, never smelled anything quite like it. It is not for everyone but if it is right for you, it is a great fragrance.
In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane - Oscar Wilde
Yatagan and Nicole Farhi Homme
Bois du Portugal. Besides PdN New York and Guerlain Heritage, BdP is totally unique.
However, sticking to composed fragrances, I would have to say that Guerlain's fabulous Eau de Cologne Impériale is the single most invigorating and stimulating scent that I've experienced. Sadly, it is also one of the most short-lived fragrances. An intense version of this scent would be simply awesome.
Honorable mention for vigor and stimulation go to
Route du Vetiver
Geo. F. Trumpers Sandalwood Cologne
Carlo Corinto Vetyver
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune
Caron's Poivre extrait parfum

MPG's Parfum d' Habit---- It's certainly unique
Surely I haven't smelled everything in the wide world, but for me Royal English Leather is a real unique scent.
By the way, the best one I've ever come across. Thanks to Hirch_Duckfinder's 18 sample I've began my Creed journey So far the only one I have had and tried was GIT, and I've been extremely curious. Well, REL is a real germ.

Really classy and unique? Hmm.... perhaps:
New York, Nicolai
Cuir de Russie, Chanel
Mouchoir de Monsieur
Coup de Fouet
I've not smelled it, but Tea For Two looks to be unique.
All quite unique...
