Default What is the Perfect Winter Scent?

I've been thinking about what scent I should get for the winter period. I would love something that imitates the winter weather (crisp and fresh), but I would also like something that reminds me of being warm by the fire when its cold and snowing outside. I've tried some fragrances but I don't really know what I'm looking for, can anyone help!? Thanks.

Citrus on top, woody and spicy in the base and heart may meet your requirements. Cacharel PH might work if you can handle the nutmeg note. Starts with a crisp, citrus blast with lavender moves on to a heart of nutmeg and florals and drys down to a warm, inivting woody/vetiver/musk base.

Not excatly citrus/woody/spicy, but others to consider:
    Creed, Himalaya
Serge Lutens, Gris Clair, Arabie, Chypre Rouge
    Bois 1920, Sushi Imperiale
    Les Nereides, Oriental Lumpur

Ruggles read my mind. Santal de Mysore is absolutely breathtaking and almost completely ignored around here. It is in my top 5 of all time and the only one I ever went through all of the trouble of getting a bell jar. I would also recommend L'artisan's Navigateur which is spices and wood and patchouli done in a way that always reminds me of Winter.

It's your "crisp and fresh" requirement that keeps me from recommending the likes of A*men, Roma Uomo, CdG EDP, Caron's fabulous Poivre, or my SOTD, Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Winter Delice.

Therefore, given the aforementioned requirement, I would recommend that you try

    Hermes Equipage
    Hermes Rocabar
    Romeo Gigli per Uomo
    SMN's Cittá di Kyoto
(Roma Uomo is close enough that you should definitely try it)
    Chanel Pour Monsieur (+ Concentree)

Divine's L'Homme Sage has that warm campfire feel to it, probably my favourtie winter scent. Another Divine scent, L'Homme de Coeur then again emulates crisp winter air, somehow.

Other than these, MPG's Eau des Iles is out of this world winter scent, so is Piper Nigrum. These two are somewhat controversial around here, so do not count on me on this one and buy blind .

Great recommendations. Let me add Creed Epicea for "entering a log cabin with a pinewood fire burning, in a Russian winter forest" and Nicole Farhi pour homme - cool winter-woods etheral top, warm non-vanillic oriental base. Gianni Campagna Scilla e Chariddi has a nice x-massy clove note and Villoresi's Incensi is resins and cinnamon heaven. I would also strongly second Cacharel ph, Santal de Mysore, Piper Nigrum, JHL, Witness, Santal Noble...

I will second that emotion on many of the great spice scents mentioned above, particularly JHL, Cacharel PH and Piper Nigrum.

The one that hasn't been mentioned so far (I think) is Caron Yatagan - a walk in the woods on a bright morning.

I suspect my single favourite scent this winter may be Divine L'Homme Sage.

Most of the scents above are not available to try before you buy in the UK high street. Two that are and that you should try next time you are passing Boots or Debenhams are Envy and M7 - tremendous mainstream scents.

Cool Re: What is the Perfect Winter Scent?

    Crisp and Fresh?

Easy: Himalaya and Habit Rouge. ( Some would add Geir, as well )

The second question is harder. Most any Oriental or 'Woods' scent that clicks with you might do.
