Hey guys I am looking for a heavy black licorice scent, not something light, but something where the most prominent note is black licorice...

I have both and although they have notes im looking for deeper, heavier presences of Licorice than those....seems as if the lolita several years ago had a very prominent note, now all I smell is vanilla with a little licorice on the side...

It is doubtful that I'll find comrades in this admittance, but I find that Givenchy Gentleman has a pretty big black anise smell to me. No doubt that it could just be my noses lack of ability to distinguish each particular note from the others, but that is my overall impression. So give GG a shot!

Have you tried Douce Amere? It's similar to Lolita but the anise is drier and more bittersweet. It has a woody side to counter balance the sweetness so it's not pure sugar.

Have you tried a fresh bottle, the juice can change over time? The women's version is also very heavy on the licorice/anise.

I'm waiting for "L" for men to come out.

I am not sure how old the bottle of lolita was, but I remeber a bottle I smlled back in 2001 and it was a STRONG licorice scent, but my decant I got in 2006 was a little licorice and alot of vanilla....any ideas about this? Also how strong is the black marlin?

Thumbs up Re: Looking for a HEAVY black licorice scent..

    Etro Anice
About as close as you can get to an actual licorice gumdrop.
I just wish it lasted longer on me.

I don't mean to insult your intelligence if you already know this but, Lolita Lempicka came out with a softer version of Au Masculin. It is exactly what you described: less licorice and more vanilla scent. The boxes are virtually identical. The only easily recognizable difference is the word "Fraicheur" underneath "au Masculin". Well, that's the deal with my two boxes anyway. I bought the second as a back up and noticed the difference after I purchased it. Both of my bottles are just about a year old and The stronger one is still definitely stronger.

Escada Magnetism also has a strong licorice note. It's actually a relatively subtle scent but the dry down is a bit warmer than the Lempicka. Probably wouldn't quite be what your looking for if you want "HEAVY" but worth a sniff.

Yohji Homme as HEAVY black licorice scent?
    Understated is more appropriate, IMHO.

Talking Re: Looking for a HEAVY black licorice scent..

Perhaps this could sound strange... But try Arabie by Serge Lutens. I've tried this (unfortunately) and it smells like plain licorice for the first day, the day after this develops a dried fruits&spices scent...

The second Lutens scent which to my nose smells like plain licorice + cinnamom is Santal Blanc. In this case I didn't wait for the day after and had to take a thourough shower.

As you can guess I'm not a licorice devotee...

    Cheers

ETRO "ANISE" is the blackest of black liquorice scents Ive ever smelled.
Sooooo anise in fact, that it reminded me of foolish binge-drinking sessions in college drinking black sambucca until I made myself sick!

Sorry for being sooo precise... but Anise is not Licorice, they 2 different plants.

They share some similarities, but they are definitely different.

Dont apologise Waldemar... theres plenty of room here for biological correctness
But the question was: whats a "heavy black liquorice" scent, and Quixotiq and I think this is the one

Etro Anice came to my mind as well. I don't consider it a "heavy" scent, but it's certainly all about the anise/licorice/fennel/caraway impression. lovely vanillic dry down. very refreshing on really hot days...i keep mine chilled in the 'fridge.

I would put forward both Kenzoair and Kenzoair Intense, the Intense if you want a stronger liquorice/anise accord.

Add my +1 to these. The package arrived this morning, and Etro Anice fits my nasal requirements to a "T".

Update: It's good... real good. But it ain't got no legs. If Wardrobe and Directory were working, I'd rate it's scent +4, but just barely give it a two stars for longevity (the top notes were breath-taking, but I never even got to the heart notes, let alone the base notes, before the show was over). Sigh. At $46 + S/H, it's not inexpensive; OK, it's not dear, either, but I wouldn't feel comfortable shpritzing it on myself every 20-minutes.

How about Anise essential oil. I've got a bottle and applied a couple drops to my forearem.
This stuff is pure liquid black licorice. No joke. Most people use it for massages or aromatherpy.
You can buy it at most health food stores and it isn't expensive. This brand is called
    Aura Cacia
    Pure aromatherapy
    Anise
    100% pure essential oil
    Cheering

    Check their website.

Not yet..but I have not been on a sampling hunt for it either....maybe an essential oil would be the way to go...

    Really??
I just sprayed the back of my hand with it.
I'm getting chocolate liqueur, vanilla, coffee, patchouli and the slightest hint of lavender. I not getting anything licorice-y at all. (I totally forgot how good this stuff smells. It's been a while.)

When I'm in the mood for licorice I reach for Eau de Reglisse by Caron. Affordable and lasts all day.
Anice by Etro is better. To make Anice last all day, just spray on your clothes.
