I just received a bottle of this as a gift - and it reminds me somewhat of Trumper's Ajaccio Violets Cologne (although Briar is much cheaper!). Briar might be just a little more powdery though. This is very refreshing and reminds me so much of going to the barber!

(By the way, I put some into a sprayer, I liked it better that way!)

i bought an old vintage bottle on ebay, the atkinson version. when the package showed up today i could smell it. "oh no!" as i opened the box the smell became stronger. when i saw the juice rolling around freely in the plastic wrap the bottle was wrapped in i knew- it had leaked out during shipping. i was able to rub the plastic on my skin. smelled great. nice bottle...too bad it was empty.

Well, after having run out of Royal Briar some time ago, it is time to reorder from Carroll & Co. Sorry to see that the price in 8 years has going from $25 to $45; but I guess that is to be expected, and still a bargain for such a great fragrance. If it still is a great fragrance. I am pretty skeptical these days as fragrances have become pretty watered down. In any event, I am reordering soon, and will report to the troops when I have my new bottle.

I just checked in on the Carroll & Co. site and after 10 years it's gone up to $55 a bottle. Guess they must have had an uptick in sales and decided that it was worth charging more for. They offer free shipping now, which I don't remember being an option back then, so that's nice.

I actually still have half of the bottle I got a decade ago, and it still smells great.
