Question Special date need a special cologne

I am new to the cologne game...
The little lady and I are going out on the town this weekend for our fourth anniversary and I wanted to smell good. I just got a bunch of samples so I am excited to try out some of my stuff.

The date will consist of dinner at a nice place but not somewhere really fancy. Maybe we'll get drinks somewhere... who knows. We will also spend a lot of the night walking around/shopping outside and I assume it is going to be in the mid 30s. So I will have on a heavy coat and a scarf but I want to make sure she can still smell me with all that stuff on.

This is what I have to work with:
    Rochas Man
    Green Irish Tweed by Creed
    Paco Rabanne XS Pour Homme
    Burberry London
    Michael by Michael Kors
Yves Saint Laurent - M7 Fresh
    A*Men
    Gucci Envy
    Givenchy Pi
    Chanel Egoiste

She hasn't smelled any of these yet and I want it to be a surprise. I want something that will make her want to get close to me and want to smell me all night. I just have so much and I don't know what scents work best in what situation.
What is the best way to apply the cologne given these circumstances?

By the way, she is 23 years old (so am I). Thanks

I'd consider expediting some Chergui and wearing that. It's worth it, and, it's not like it won't be useful again later.

I vote Burberry London, with a nice matching Burberry scarf.

I think Egoiste would be a perfect fit. As long as its the original Egoiste and not the Platinum. If you own the latter, i would go with a light (two sprays max) application of Rochas Man.

I'm fellin' the Egoiste as well...sounds perfect..but at the same time, the Michael Kors sounds good as well..been a while since I smelt it. Those would be my top 2 in your list.... Good Luck on the anniversary date.

Out of your list, I'd say Rochas Man just because I had a great experience wearing it a few nights ago. I couldn't keep people away from me! I've also had good luck with Givenchy Pi, as well. Both are great scents for the cold, & would project even under clothes.

I hope you enjoy your evening w/ your wife! Your plan sounds fantastic!

Girlfriend....lol. We're going to the Plaza. You're from KC so you know what I am talking about.

Everyone is suggesting different things, haha. I have narrowed it down to about 4-5. I still have a few days to pick my favorite.

Whoa! Small world! I love the Plaza, especially this time of year. Which restaurant are you going to?

I would choose the one I feel more comfortable with. And I would narrow my choices to these three:
    Chanel Egoiste
    Burberry London
    Rochas Man

Oh! the Plaza will be so romantic this time of year!

I'm thinking Pi ... and I'm also thinking that you should lightly spritz your scarf with it ... just so she will get little hints of it when she gets close to you while you guys are out walking or maybe taking a carriage ride ...

    have a great time!
    I've trademarked the color bleu

I am not familiar with the Plaza but from others comments, it sounds like you will have an enchanting evening!

My choices from your list (in my order of preference):

    Egoiste by Chanel
Green Irish Tweed by Creed (it has come under attack recently, but it richly deserves its reputation)
    London for Men by Burberry

    Enjoy!

my vote goes for london. i am really enjoying it in this cold weather. just wish that it lasted a bit longer.

i do like git but doesnt work too well for me in the winter weather. egoiste is a good winter scent but just too much clove and spice for me. i smell like an apple pie when i wear it. much perfer floris santal.

    cheers,

thanks! i have been lurking for a while, i really restrained myself for as long as i could. i have picked up a few bottles from the bst forum. i finally feel like i have tried quite a few scents and can actually contribute to this forum.

i will have to fill out my wardrobe... do people include decants in theirs? i have just recently moved from the sampling phase to the buying bottles phase.

    cheers,
    ryan

That is a very good question, but I do not know the answer to it!

I suppose it depends upon the size of the decant and whether you feel comfortable including it. Some decants are every bit as large as the smaller bottles offered by the fragrance houses themselves.

Perhaps someone with more experience than I can provide insight into what the proper etiquette is in this situation.

Depends - are you going casual or dressy? And what kind of restaurant are you going to?

did read an statistik that perfume isn´t so important at a date. Choose the one do you like at that day, or one of the recommended here and be happy :--)
