Default EDP or Parfum strength male fragrances?

    Hi.
Most male perfumes I have seen are EDT or EDC strength. I prefer EDP or Parfum strength since they last much longer but not many are available. I've got Mecallef Patchouli which is
a unisex fragrance and is actually EDP but would love other recommendations.

    Thanks!

Guerlain's Heritage and L'instant PH are excellent male EDPs.

Both Boucheron and Jaipur by Boucheron come in EDP strength.

One of the best men's mass mark eau de parfums is Yves St Laurent's Opium edp pour homme. This is my benchmark for edps as it is strong and full of character.

honestly, the whole edc vs edt vs edp stuff is crap, particularly when dealing with male fragrance. edt is typically between 5 and 20 active fragrance, while edp is anywhere between 10 and 30, meaning that depending on the individual juice you can have a significantly stronger edt compared to a different scents edp concentration. in my opinion these labels are only useful when comparing the same scent. i would wager that every member of basenotes could tell you a story of an edt they own lasting longer than a different edp.

compare Montale Soliel de Capri as an EDP with A*Men as a edt...

Ditto on Chad278's comment. Sillage and longevity depend on the formulation and the perfumer's skill, and not necessarily the percent composition. Kouros and Antaeus are edts but, well... you get the idea.

The edps in my collection include Patou Pour Homme, Himalaya, and Fou d'Absinthe. I'd recommend them all.

Most women's EDPs have flowers of some description. Most men's EDTs have woods. The woods last longer than the flowers, which is why numerous men's EDTs last longer than the women's EDPs.

That said Aqua di Portofino EDP certainly increases longevity over the EDT.
Opium EDP is good, but thicker and richer than the crisper Opium EDT, such that I think it's only really good for winter wear, whereas the EDT is more versatile.

Hanae Mori is an excellent EDP, while the EDT smells terrible to me.

Most (all) of the Mazzolaris are EDT, but you'd never guess that based on the amazing lasting power and excellent sillage. Lui lasts on my husband's skin for 24 hours and needs to be scrubbed before it's totally gone.

Andy Tauer's Reveris is an EDP, but it's not as strong as his Lonestar Memories (EDT).

In my experience, one my skin, for the few scents I have tried* in both their EDT and EDP editions, the EDT versions seem to have a greater sillage. The EDP versions are stronger but sit closer on my skin.

I agree in general terms with chad278 and Snafoo, but if you must have a male scent that's labeled "EdP," there are the Montale Aouds (Black Aoud's longevity can be measured in days, not hours), and most of the Serge Lutens line, among which Ambre Sultan, Chene, and Mandarin-Mandarine are exceptionally tenacious.

A few extremely long lasting EdTs not already mentioned are Knize Ten, Havana, Parfum d'Habit, Route du Vetiver, and Ungaro II.

On the other hand there is the whole Creed "millesime" series, supposedly in EdP strength, but with few that last more than a couple of hours.

The moral of the story: Don't judge projection or longevity by the label.

Geir Ness is a parfum strength edt.
Another idea is to find the concentree/intense versions of various fragrances.
A few to look into are
    Cartier- Santos
    YSL- Rive Gauche
    Christian Dior- Dior Homme

I'm sure other basenoters can shed more light on other ones.

Commenting on Vibert's post, if the Creed line is generally EdeP then I don't know, because my only problem with those superb fragrances is the poor longevity of many of their fine offerings. I wore Dunhill for Men yesterday, an EdeC, which made it through the day and into the evening.

I couldn't agree more. A fragrance's labelled strength is no guarantee of anything. As for Creeds, I probably would have owned a few if they lasted on my skin.
