    Season's Greetings to the Dutchies!

Inees, so glad to hear that your eye is better. What a relief!

And that your cold is better Indiscreet.

Wearing Ghandara by Neil Morris today. Wow. This guy is GOOD. This is the fourth of his fragrances that I've tested (Midnight Tryst, October, Gotham, and Ghandara) and I love them all.

Joy, I don't know whether to thank you or blame you for the samples! My bank account is quivering in fear.

Today I am wearing Lentheric's classic Tweed. This is Lentheric's scent not a later Tweed by another manufacturer or a reorchestrated version.

Tweed is a chypre with carnation, jasmine, lavender and bergamot. The patchouli is restrained and does not overwhelm the mossy base. Glad I finally got a bottle of the original. My mom and her sisters used to wear this one and it is a great fragrance.
    Currently wearing: Bluebell by Penhaligon's

I, erm, I'm not wearing any perfume today.
I'm coming down with my hubby's cold and actually forgot to spritz.
    Blimey.

Anyway, happy Sinterclaus. Here it's Sammiklaus tomorrow and St Nick will do something in Basel Cathedral and we have the big winter market in town. I thought it was the same day for the Dutch, so don't tell my half Dutch hubby and hopefully we can celebrate it tomorrow.

Patchouli Antique's opening is musty and pungent, almost like entering a damp basement. Fortunately, the musty opening phase transitions into a damp, rich, earthy patchouli. This where the fragrance exudes the feel of an out-of-time classic patchouli scent while moving slowly and steadily towards eventually revealing its slightly sweeter side. Vanilla and musk arrive about 2-3 hours into the wearing and the now faded patchouli blends into the flow for the remainder of the ride. The patchouli note in the base is lingering but still quite evident. A welcome change from fresh and clean, Patchouli Antique is damp and earthy with a mildly sweet twist.

If I did not know Patchouli Antique was from Les Nereides, I would have guessed Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier was the house behind it. The potency of the patchouli in the early heart phase reminds me of the deep, earthy feel and smell of Profumum Patchouly. Patchouli Antique is an interesting, well crafted fragrance with all-day longevity and moderate sillage. Its surprisingly low retail price makes it one of the best buys around.

    Sprays:6
    Longevity:10-12 hours plus
    Sillage: Moderate
RIYL: Profumum Patchouly, Santa Maria Novella Patchouli,...patchouli.

Many thanks to Renee [rtamara41] for sending the sample that introduced me to this scent and to scentemental for inspiring me to continue exploring the Les Nereides line. One of the most underrated houses around.

PS: Bandit gives me impure thoughts. It's wicked fun.
