    Default Advice on aquatics....

Been looking for some time for the "perfect" aquatic, obviously I've been disappointed. Incense UltraMarine is growing on me strangely, as is Kenzo - Bvlgari Aqva is excellent imo but does not last - anyone have some good choices?

Blue Label by Givenchy does last, and is often compared with Aqva here. I prefer Blue Label and I own both.

Try the new mens scent from DSquared, He Wood. It's got this strange wood / aquatic accord that was a little disconcerting to me but dazzled a few here on Basenotes.

Embruns d'Essaouira by Montale is quite unique. Briny iodine over musk. Not your run-of-the-mill aquatic by a long shot.

Creed Erolfa is the class of the aquatics as far as I'm concerned!

I will also second the Givencvhy Blue Label recomendation.

The scent grows richer, he knows he must be near
He finds a long passageway lit by chandelier
Each step he takes, the perfumes change
From familiar fragrance to flavours strange

Givenchy Blue, you bet. Erolfa's a given.

An aquatic that I would like to see get more love on here is Laura Tonatto's Oltre. This is a very realistic, cold, salty oceanic fragrance containing muguet, musk and pine; not a "bland" aquatic in the least to my nose. It has great longevity and decent sillage.

I may be in the minority here but, I can't stand aquatics. That said, I will recommend Leau Par Kenzo. A nice aquatic.

Bvlgari Aqva is the perfect shape to carry in a pocket. It's the best aquatic scent by far in my opinion and it contains, Posidonia which as zztop has pointed out many times makes the concoction the perfect aquatic.

Lanvin Oxygene Homme, seems to be pretty much the perfect aquatic in my book. Every element of the fragrance recedes to support central "pure water" accord.

Whenever I think I'm going to have a tough day, I wear Oxygene as it always makes me feel better.

Erolfa is great, imo I don't see it as very "aquatic". Herbal and salty doesn't quite conjure up "water" in any form which I think is an essential part of aquatics. I'll have to go with L'eau D'Issey or the original Polo Blue on this one.

Mare is great aswell but it's also along the lines of Erolfa thus not a true aquatic.

I think part of the issue is how we define "aquatic"

I see the catagory as being split up

    Ozonic -- Fresh Air scents
    Marine -- Sea Air elements
    Aquatic -- Fresh water

I am glad to see so many different opinions on this thread. For a while I wore Erolfa, but it was too much the "old money on the yacht" vibe for me. I have been wanting to pick up an aquatic lately and have been really moving toward Bulgari Aqua, and now I must revisit Blue Label as well.
    You are not your perfume.
