Default what color of lipstick when wearing a red dress?

What do you guys wear when wearing red? The dress is a deep ruby red, with definite blue undertones. Red lipstick is tricky ... not sure if I want to wear that
    I've trademarked the color bleu

Go with a neutral lip and a dark, smokey eye...

Definately neutral. I usually wear Smashbox lipgloss in Pixel when I want a nice nude lipcolor.

I would pick a shade that matches the dress and keep the eye make-up minimal, eyebrows should be in great shape, though.

Depends on the style of the dress. If it was classy, I'd wear neutral liner and clear gloss or the matchy-matchy red. If it was sassy, I'd consider a gauche matte maroon. If it was mod and girly, MAYBE a gloss fuschia.

    :toppie:

Another option for who don't feel at all like wearing red lipstick is a neutral skintone mat lipstick with smoky 20's style panda eyes, but complexion should be like a milky porcelain doll

I would, like has been suggested, do a neutral face. Let the dress be the centrepoint.

    Now here's a definite don't make-up with a red dress:

I would find a "sheer" red or gloss with lip liner to wear, some blush and neutral or smokey colors of eye makeup with liner and mascara. 1950ish glam girl. I think neutral shades on the lip would pale out the face in comparison to the bright color you are wearing, as shown in the picture, and too much eye color would be over the top. (Do not wear pink, green or blue eyeshadow with this.)

Yep, I agree - what's wrong in that picture is the colour on the eyes. Keep all the colours neutral, get the skin really flawless, use just a touch of blush to balance the face up and go smoky on the eyes, put the drama there.

And of course a faaaaaabulous fragrance.

    Two options:

    Bold eyes/Neutral lips

    OR

    Neutral eyes/Bold lips

    NEVER DO BOTH BOLD!
