Domenico Caraceni classic, today
Thread: SotD Wednesday 12 December |
I received part of my order from The Perfumed Court, (yay!) and am happily basking in warm peachy NAHEMA parfum. I get more peach than rose or wood (although they definitely make an appearence), and it's not as powdery as I thought it would be. It's really beautiful and if I could get my hands on a gallon jug of this, I'd be a happy woman! Gorgeous!![]()

I'm wearing Samsara. Just put it on actually. Sadly, a familiar feeling of an upcoming headache follwed but I have ibuprofen ready!
Love hurts, right?
Off to a little pre-Christmas party with some of my favorite colleagues. NIce to have a leisurely lunch out before we get to work.
Will be celebrating in Ava-Luxe Incense Tibet!
Giving Tea for Two a second chance today, but immediately upon application I am transported back to Visby, Gotland when I was eighteen. Sitting in Schenholms restaurant reading James Joyce and Margaret Atwood, drinking cup after cup of special Gotlansk tea and smoking cigarette after cigarette. Nice memory, but not one I really want to smell like.
Another belief of mine; that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise.

I am wearing one of the scents I bought in "A BIG BOTTLE" after finding this little corner of the universe- Missoni Acqua. I like it though I am not sure it has a good longevity.
Just to comment on a few posted remarks- I too just received an order from TPC- 17 samples- and it's driving me crazy that I can't smell them all at once! The first one I tried was love at first sniff (Creed Virgin Island Water), second one, not so much.
I also sampled Tea for Two. I am really trying to like it a lot. I enjoy the dry down but the opening notes are really sharp for what I usually like. We should have a Basenotes Gathering- we can all bring our frags and our dispensing tools and spend the day sampling like mad!

The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”
I am thrilled to say that the Ormonde Woman I applied 9 hours ago is still going strong. I adore this singular scent and will invest in a full bottle for Christmas. The Ormonde Jayne sample bag is a little treat to be going on with. Lovely packaging and unique fragrances.
Woke up three times today -- at midninght, at 4 am and at noon. Slept like a log inbetween, going to work night shift till midnight. Wearing that fabulous vanilla fragrance that we all think might be the Guerlain Riannon is wearing. It is the best, I agree!
Don't you love it? Dontcha? Dontcha?
The powder comes in slowly. It settles, like dust from the air.
It reminds me of slamming the lid down on a box of loose powder, and a cloud of the stuff drifts down on top of you.
The wood is dry, almost incensy, but definitely there.
Gosh, it was a nice, peachy rose.
Sigh. Some day when I actually need more perfume, I will buy this.
I know what you mean, SIGH.
It's luscious and ripe.

Oh, Spicegirl, I'm in Nahema parfum today too! I dug into my Guerlain samples last night to see if I had Samsara, and discovered a vial of Nahema parfum. We smell so good today.
I also found my longlost bottle of Jicky parfum - who knew it would be with the other Guerlains?!

CHLOE - Ooooh... scent twins, how lovely. Nahema is gorgeous isn't it?So happy you found your Jicky. I freak when I misplace scents that I love, esp. the tiny sample vials, they're so easy to lose. Hehehe...

You know it girl! I do love it, and already have visions of a full bttl. dancing in my head!![]()

I had stolen a few spritzes of my sister's Eclat d'Arpege this morning, but then I bought Lolita Lempicka L... so I have that on now...I bought it unsniffed, but had wanted it, and it was cheap... I'm not sure about it... it's very attractive and smooth, the cinnamon is lovely... but the vanilla is a bit overpowering...
later on...: actually, I like it a lot more now...it reminds me of Allure Sensuelle a lot, which is no bad thing!

I'm wearing Chergui today.

Isn't it strange how different noses smell different scents? I wore Nahema a couple of days ago and was astonished by the wallop of the rose in it. Didn't get peach at all.
Anyway, I suspect this is cheating but I had to post the WordChick's sotd (bless her, she's 3 years old and has a sotd!). She loves coming in perfumeries with me and on today's xmas shopping trip in town she made an unscheduled dash into one and wanted a spritz. (I let her smell my perfumes and she can wear some of the gentler ones) So I picked up a bottle of Nina Ricci's apple one (sorry, can't remember the name) and asked if she wanted to try it. She sniffed the bottle and said 'no. This one looks like an apple', pointing to Gres Cabotine. So she had a sniff of that bottle and yes, that's the one she wanted to try on her wrist. It seemed light, pleasant and inoffensive. Nice for the office, I thought.
Tonight we were cuddled up on the sofa watching tv when I caught a whiff of something really good and started sniffing myself, as you do, but it wasn't me. It was the Chick. The drydown on the Cabotine was absolutely lovely - warm and surprisingly rich without being oriental. Poor little thing, Mummy has been sniffing her all night.

Switched to Après L'ondée after it rained here today. Decided I needed to luxuriate. This is absolutely one of the most divine scents I've ever owned, it is fragile, but warm...I find little rose at all, more violets but not the candied kind - it reminds me of the touch of a velvety petal. A bit shocked to find that this received rather mixed reviews here, but I guess one person's passion is another's poison - anyone who wants to swap their's away let me know![]()

Well, I will never truly NEED more perfume in the sense that I need food (alright I should cut back on the holiday munching) water and air. But I'm sure I will buy it anyway. I'd love to make a NY resolution to cut back, but that will surely fail.
Your review is making me want to try Nahema in the parfum, and I am working hard to fight the urge.
