Default Most satisifying purchase of 2007

I hope it's not too early to post this, as I guess some purchases can still be made in 2007 . Yet, I doubt one would have enough time to determine if it was their most satisfying purchase of 2007 (though I suppose one could update their post!). For me, satisfying means the one (or more) scents that you were the most happiest with despite the cost. Yes, cost comes into I guess, but in purest sense, which one were you the happiest with?

    For me:

    1. Carthusia Uomo (a blind buy based on Dmitri's review! Thanks Dimitri!)
    2. Terre d'Hermes. I had put off buying this until some months ago. Sorry that I waited so long!

And while it was only a sample (so not truly a purchase!) - Ambre Sultan knocked my socks off... and so I predict it will be one of the candidates for most satisfying purchases of 2008!

I don't think it's too early for this post. As far as my most satisfying purchases this year, they are as follows:

    1. Versace The Dreamer (I finally found a 3.4 oz test at Scentiments, and I will buy this one again no matter what)

    2. Coty Musk for Men (My favorite classic fragrance, and happily Walgreens had the holiday 2 for the price of 1 packs. I hadn't seen it in ages, and feared it was gone forever)

All my purchases were in 2007 (I'm new to this) but I would have to say my most satisfying (and pleasantly surprising) one was:

I'm a sucker for Opoponax, and also Amber, so of all the fragrance's I purchased this I would have to say:
    1) Imperial Opoponax....Les Nereides...A steal at 60.00/ 100ML.
    2) Blue Amber... Montale...Costly, but worth every penny!

Feminitè du Bois followed closely by Black Oud.
Discovering FdB, the archetypical Lutens/Sheldrake scent, was like finding the missing opus in their Shiseido oeuvre.
Black Oud is the best evening/party scent in my collection, bar none.
Runners up: Richard James, Aimez Moi, Azurée Soleil Eau Fraiche Skinscent, Costes, Terracotta Voile d'Ete, Eau des Merveilles, Mechant Loup and Eau Lente.
2007 was a good year for my nose.

Cuiron. It was a blind buy based on comments on BN and wow--unlike anything else I have ever smelled. My least satisfying was Van Cleef for men--a mere shadow of how I remember this smelling....

Parfums de Nicolai - Cologne Sologne

I'd been considering it for a while, then got it for <$60. It's a very mannerly fragrance, I put it in the same class with AdP Colonia and Guerlain Eau Imperiale. (although it is Iris, not citrus)

I had the same experience with L'eau d'Issay. I had a bottle for several years, perhaps one of the first higher quality scents I bought. However, my bottle just ran out and so I purchased another. Wow... what a difference... I don't know what happened, but "a mere shadow" is what I experienced! So, it qualifies as my least satisfying purchase this year!

Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore followed closely by its gorgeous slightly older sister, Feminitè du Bois. The cumin and sandalwood in Santal de Mysore engender a meditative tranquility that I have never experienced in a fragrance. Feminitè du Bois is one of the most well blended scents I have worn and it's quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite woody scents.

Hey Schachman, Im glad you enjoed the review and like the scent!

My most satisfying purchases were Narciso For Him - my first "fougere" scent, that I simply cant imagine myself without, and my Colonia Intensa. My S.T Dupont comes a close 3rd!

I am hoping, whilst visiting Vienna over the holidays, to run into a bottle of Carthusia Uomo myself, as my sample is now dry as a bone.
