Thumbs down HUGH PARSONS BLUE (I want kill some basenoters)

Well Sirs I break a golden rule try before buy.but in this case was why i read in all coments:

"yes very clean and fresh........","similar gendarme.........","ideal for the office..."

well today i received my bottle and this is not clean and not fresh,no clean,no light,no fresh,....
this is a mixture of herbs with initial sharp and dry old-school .....
Not Gendarme, not Acqcua di Gio,not Wall Street,..........
his destiny is clear Swap section.

PD:Mantra for the day: try before buy. try before buy. try before buy.

    of course i,m pacific man

Hahahaha I was squaring up Dry Martini in the sights of my sniper rifle and then I saw Giannis' comment, lol!

I'm convinced you've got a bad bottle or something!

If this isn't clean or fresh, I don't know what is! Aren't you getting a nice, bright woody-lemon-aquatic accord? Very simple but rich and refreshing? I don't think the reviews on here do a good job describing what's actually IN there, but they are pretty accurate as far as what type of scent it is and where it would be used most appropriately. I'll agree this is nothing like Gendarme, but I own them both and use them interchangably - that is, to the same types of settings.

While I might not agree with WHAT you are saying, kind sir, I'll defend to the death your right to SAY it!

Sounds like a bad bottle to me too. I'm on my second bottle. This one is absolutely from the "fresh" family.

It was said quite often that Hugh Parsons Blue shows the real face after half an hour. Not only IMO the first minutes are crap and a mess of unbalanced notes, but I still keep it for the drydowns sake.

I had a similar experience with HP Blue (one of my first blind buys from an online discount merchant)--all I got was raisin. I have since tried this from a new tester at the store and from an acquaintance's two-year-old bottle and am convinced that this perfume is highly susceptible to spoilage or inconsistency. The juice from the new bottle was consistent with the positive reviews, and the juice from the two-year-old bottle, although similar to that of the new bottle, was a bit off. It seems to me that HP Blue is just a fragile fragrance, should be bought new, from new stock if possible, and either stored carefully, or used quickly.
