Default Be careful with Fumerie Turque!

I got a sample of this at least a month ago now, along with a bunch of other samples.

I was out of skin to test on, so I sprayed one spray of Fumerie Turque on the arm of the couch.

STILL, just about every time I lay down on the couch, I get a huge, very clear, whiff of Fumerie. Keep in mind, this is from ONE spray from a tiny sample vial, and over a month ago! Even as I type this, with my nose at least four feet from the arm of the couch, I can smell it as though I'm wearing it.

The scent itself isn't really my bag, as far as wearability, but its a decent scent to have had stick around for so long.

So this is my word of caution to anyone who either owns or is interested in F.T. Be careful! I'm thinking any more than one spray from the bottle would destroy an entire room! If you can actually pull this one off...wow.
    Lately I've been wearing:
Windsor, Bois de Santal, Original Santal, Elixir, Douro, Endymion, Reflection, Arcus, Marwah

This is a typical warning for most Lutens.

Yup, I got some Miel de Bois (which makes me feel ill,) on a jacket once, and I was smelling it for ever!

I own and love Fumerie Turque and wasn't aware that it had such longevity. That's good news to me. I especially love it paired with Un Bois Vanille.

Also, I had a similar Serge Lutens sampling/longevity experience with Chypre Rouge and Rousse. I detest these 2 scents and could not get rid of the smell on my clothes after trying them from a sample. These are really the only 2 SL scents I absolutely do not like. Just the thought of them gives me a headache.
Top 6: Amerigo Vespucci, by Kilian A Taste of Heaven, Serge Lutens Borneo 1834, Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta, Creed Bois du Portugal, Barney's New York Route du The

Yeah, it can happen. I have a coat that smells like Cuir Ottoman, and I wore it a month ago.

The one Lutens (Chergui) I have is incredibly strong. I use exactly two spritzes (what's the word for something way less than a spray?) and I can still smell it in the morning after my shower.

Some time last year when Lutens was my favorite house I got a decant of FT thinking that it would be perfect for me. Sadly, I was really disappointed by the scent and didn't like it that much, but nonetheless I wore it a few times hoping I'd come around. There was one time in particular where I applied quite a bit, and it had MONSTER sillage! That night I hugged a friend of mine, and she was like "holy shit, that's a badass cologne you're wearing!" Sucks I don't like the scent, but I gotta love Basenotes for putting my in life positions where I'm putting out ridiculous sillage of a "badass" cologne.

I own a bottle.. Almost every day I take a sniff from the bottle, to see if I can "get it" and learn to like it.. I respect Fumerie Turque, but I think I have to resign...

I wasn't impressed with the longevity and sillage of some Lutens fragrances.

I have samples of Ambre Sultan, Chergui and MKK.
I would say the strongest one is Chergui, but certainly nothing exceptional and absolutely inferior to Montale fragrances when it comes to strength.

So I have to say I'm quite surprised by this topic.

I'm surprised noone has commented yet, but it seems like you made quite a rash decision. I share your enthusiasm with samples but I would have never sprayed my couch

I own at least 10 serge lutens now and probably used up 5. All SL are sillage, projection and longevity masters.

The 3 you mention are particularly top in the 3 characteristics.

That's exactly the right amount for perfumes.
