Thumbs up Red Bottles Contest Winner!

    First things first:

Because I thought musse meant computer wallpaper when she meant actual wall-paper, I made a 1024x768 image, with 107 red bottles. I won't ask you to name the extra 31 that have been added, but I can post names of any upon request. I tried to include most of the ones suggested to me.

    The contest image, for comparison.

OK! The results of the Names the Bottles contest have been tallied, and while several contestants got oh-so-close, it was DeeOlive and Quarry who tied with perfect scores. I regretted having to choose between the two of you, but I asked a member of my household to draw a name, and he blindly chose DeeOlive's entry. Congratulations, Dee! I'll send a PM regarding the details of your prize. And Quarry, I have a couple of options in mind for a consolation prize, so I hope that WILL be some consolation.

My hat is off to all of you who rose to the challenge! Each entry was impressive, and I feel honored to have inspired such stellar effort. I allowed a little bit of wiggle room here and there (e.g., the Emporio Armani bottle), and five other submissions came within half a point or a point of the top score. It was excruciatingly close! The most troublesome name that eluded 63% of you was bottle #72, bottom row, 2nd from the left: Bath & Body Works, Japanese Cherry Blossom.

Since I don't like to see anyone walk away empty-handed, I do have some red-bottle minis and other carded samples that I will be offering. If you sent in an entry, expect a PM within the next couple of days.

Now, for the answers. If you think a particular answer was pretty close to what I have here, I probably thought so, too, and gave you credit. (I wasn't strict about details such as year, size, "limited edition," or "pour homme," if you had the main house and fragrance.)

Congratulations to the winner(s)! For me, I could not get Devotion (I thought of another scent) and Japanese Cherry Blossom, so I chickened out and did not submit my entry!

Row 1. Slava Zaitsev (two words, no "-" between the two)
Row 5. JL Amsler Prive Femme (Homme is a different bottle)
Row 7. CDG can be more than one (just like with MPG old style bottles): Rose, Carnation, Harissa, Palisander.
Row 8. Fendi Fantasia (just like in KenzoAmour, size matters!)

What is the fragrance in a cat shaped bottle (row 6, postition7) in a new 107 bottle display?

    More to come:
    Shiseido Basala
Giorgio Armani Emporio Night for Her
    Annayake Matsuri
    Aquolina Chocolovers
    Confiluxe Cafe Watt Red
    CDG 2 Flower Power
    Miss Sixty Rock Muse

Wow ! Thanks Tang, and to all who competed and to those who spurred me on!!!

Will split proceeds with Quarry - Quarry will PM you re selecting best method - perhaps a certificate to Lucky Scent - we could get oodles of samples

Tang - again thanks for this wonderful idea - I certainly got an education while researching and can't wait for the next contest.

And the bottle of Jaipur Saphir, as part of the prize still stands for when you get around to blue.

And thanks to Tang for the wonderfully fun -- though insomnia and obsession inducing -- contest and generous prize. Also for creating a lovely desktop wallpaper ::hits *save to file* option::

Thanks again and can't wait for the blue bottle contest!

Yeah, that fricking Cherry Blossom was the very last one I found the name for, too!

Many thanks to Tang for inspiring a dramatic event with a huge incentive. Congrats to fellow Internet scourer Dee. I still tremble at Twolf's recognizing 72 of the bottles off the top of her head--we all know who the real wiz kid is on this campus. I knew fewer than 10 bottles when I started, but had no work come in last week, so I simply stayed glued to the computer and went crazy.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words -- this has been a wonderful distraction for me!

Mia Kulpa did include the size designation for Fendi. I don't have the entries in front of me, but several people also indicated the correct size for the fuchsia bottle of KenzoAmour.

I believe the cat bottle is Santa Barbara Cat EDP, Red. I saw it in a couple of places, but can't remember WHERE anymore.

And as Quarry said, I think we all know who the bottle master is!

Special thanks to DeeOlive and Quarry, who have offered to put up prizes for future contests. I'm feeling all verklempt.

A hearty Congrats to the winners! I had to leave many blank as I didn't have much research time, but had a good time writing in the ones I did know and tried to do it as fast as I could!

My husband stopped by my computer while I was working on it at one point and said, "I don't know how you can do that."

Thanks for the brain teaser (okay, brain demolisher ) tang! It was definitely a challenge, but a good and highly educational one.

I didn't get the Cherry Blossom, or le Feu D'Issey. I figured the latter was such a distinctive bottle that it shouldn't be hard to find, right? I also hardly knew what any of the bottles were before coming into this thing!

I also had nothing to do last week but be educated about perfumes that come in red bottles. This week is a different story though. Classes just started today!
