    Default Just Lemon and Wood

My favorite notes for a daytime perfume are lemon and wood. I think they translate into a noble, manly, balanced, rich perfume. My perfect daytime fragrance would be a mixture of lemon and wood in a simple, classic combination. I don't like too much hocus-pocus.... I don't want too many distracting side notes.

If you had to choose only one classic perfume that mixes these two notes and has them at the heart of the fragrance, which one would you choose?

This sounds like a job for Ho Hang by Balenciaga.

Take a look at Boucheron pour Homme.True lemon on top, short floral middle, woode on the bottom. A very elegant fragrance. To find a frag.such as your looking it would almost have to have no mid notes, so I would also add Blenheim Bouquet to this mix.

    SIGNORICCI.
The definition of lemon and wood is Signoricci. Doesn't try to do too much, but the progression is wonderful. A near pefect fragrant exploration of lemon and woody dryness.

Great question Lucius - honestly, I never considered that very simple combination...it sounds like it'd smell great if it was done well, and didn't smell too synthetic (like...Lemon Pledge). I am interested to see everyone's recommendations.

I would imagine that one of those British houses (Penhaligons, Geo F. Trumper, etc) has to have a fragrance along these lines, no?

Another vote for this one. Classy elegant, simple.

Etiquette Bleue? Eau Sauvage? Maybe even Iskander, though that might have too much going on...

All things considered, I'm no fan of super-simple lemon-wood scents, so my answers aren't going to be of that much use.

Consider Creed's Bois de Cedrat. The wood notes are more subtle than I would like, but it fits the bill.

Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien and Les Nuits d'Hadrien - although they have been accused by some of smelling like Lemon Pledge, perhaps. Also, these do not last long on the skin for many people
Behemoth cut a slice of pineapple, salted it, peppered it, ate it, and then tossed off a second glass of alcohol so dashingly that everyone applauded.

You might want to check out Mark Birley. To me this smells like furniture that has been freshly polished with lemon oil polish. Wood and lemon! I actually like the smell, but do not want to smell like it.

You might want to check out Cacheral Pour L'Homme.

It has a touch of spice and floral notes, but the lemon and wood notes are the most dominant.

    Definitely a classic!

I'll be a third vote for Creed's Bois de Cedrat. It just smells like lemons with a bit of cedar. Extremely versatile and one of my favorite Creeds (even though it's so minimalist.) The lemon in this smells so fresh and vivid.

You might like Pacifica's Sandalwood. It seems to me to have a simple citric top note over the sandalwood base note.

Another vote for Creed's Bois de Cedrat. It's direct and very lemony and cedary without smelling even the slightest bit like furniture polish. If it's lemon and cedar that you want, this is definitely something you need to try.

No one's yet mentioned Versus by Versace? I'm appalled. Literally.

After looking at your wardrobe it seems like you enjoy the classics - Signoricci then. Also the recommended Boucheron PH (I've got the EdP - do test it if you can.)

Homme de Gres and D&G Masculine, and Etro's Lemon Sorbet if you want to leave out the wood..
