Default JEANNE ARTHES ** Who & What are they ??

Ran across a variety of these the other day ,, unfortunately I was not able to sample any ...
Curiosity led me to do some investigating .
Hmm ... No info in the database about these at all .
An advanced search yeilded no specific comments at all ,, just a few mentions .
    >>> Is this perfume company and it products any good ?
    > Anybody sampled any ?
Are they just another drugstore Supermarket el-cheapo line ?

They have a website but it is under construction and practically useless.

But follow the link above and you will learn something. The prices are...low.

They have a perfume named "Cobra" - a Poison imitation, which isn't all bad.
I got a bottle of a terrible concoction called "Sweet Sixteen" - it's a stinker. Avoid.
    Yes, it's cheap.

Located in Grasse. Mass market and inexpensive, but some of their offerings IMO are not that bad.

    Thanks, hednic!

Very tempting. £7 for a 100ml EDP, plus the bottle... (Fragrancemad, if someone is interested)

Own all three - Original, Black and Gold. Prefer Black, but all are good for what they are, very inexpensive mass-market scents in their own right, on their own merits.

Sultan Gold is a nice but light woody and floral scent. it opens with a nice citrus lemon and then transitions to a somewhat spicy & sweet floral mix, but the best part is the woody, cedary dry down. Longevity is above average for the price. I don't wear my Jeanne Arthes fragrances as much as I used to and yes I do own many. They were all under $10 when I acquired them years back. I suggest you try them if you have an opportunity prior to purchasing them although I'm guessing that's not possible.

Not crap but OK for a very inexpensive mass-market French drugstore scent.

They produced a scent called "Juan Carlos" back in the 80's. It's a tobacco leaf scent that's surprisingly good. It performs well and almost has a Krizia Moods feel to it. I think Krizia Moods is incredible, and doesn't reach that mark, but it's done in a similar vein.

    Here's a listing for it:

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

I heard that Jean Arthes is the cousin of Karen Low, whose grandfather Arno Sorel, was a good friend of Yves de Sistelle, whose great uncle, Jacques Bogart, used to hang out with Jean Louis Vermeil, and sometimes they'd get into vicious bar room brawls, especially when the owner, Remy Latour, would only let them smoke his brand of cigars!

Well you heard incorrectly. They (Jeanne Arthes) have their own plant facilities which I was lucky to visit in Grasse years ago unlike many of the other ones mentioned in the post above which are fictitious names given to houses under the conglomerate of Geparlys.
