Default Royal Water or Virgin Island Water

Just wondering which of the two I should get? I can only afford one right now, but I think I'd like to get one of them. Suggestions?

I voted for VIW, but really, unless you're going on a tropical vacation or are a funky person living in a really warm climate, I'd even say wait on the VIW.

Millesime Imperial is where it's at!
    Lately I've been wearing:
Windsor, Bois de Santal, Original Santal, Elixir, Douro, Endymion, Reflection, Arcus, Marwah

I think VIW will become a classic in due time. I just don't want to smell like a lime coconut unless it's >90 degrees out.

None. IMO those are the two worst creeds.

I have to admit I was terribly let down by RW... I had high hopes; I think some of the greener scents are where it's at (for me, next) but I do love all the creeds I have, except original santal might be getting the boot. (AA, BdP, GiT, New Tab, Himalaya and oh... I have VIW....) which leads me to say that it is NOT an all purpose scent, that being said I definitely enjoy it in the warmer weather that NJ experiences come summer time....

Finally, I'd say indeed, skip both for now. VIW should be a purchase made closer to summertime, (or apprx climate conditions.)

I cannot recmmend any of the creeds I do not own as I am relatively inexperienced in the creed department,

VIW is imo superb with a feel good factor when wearing it and is easily pulled off by both sexes but RW smells too feminine for my liking so id say VIW all the way

i checked your wardrobe....and you already got MI which is basically a better/easier to tolerate version of Royal water...

VIW is a completely different type of scent....just based on that alone, you should get VIW......not to mention VIW is a much better fragrance(in my estimation).

if I were forced to choose between the two I'd go VIW.
RW smells like an early 1980s household cleaning product to me.
do you have the opportunity/ interest in trying other Creeds? there are alot of far more interesting and versatile scents than these two.

I would test both of those before buying either. Imo, those are not the best two Creed has to offer. SMW, MI, Erolfa...safer blind buys.

I pick VIW of the two.
However, Erolfa is FAR better than the two..IMHO
R.W. just doesnt do it for me.

I agree with those who say that there are many better Creeds than these two. I also agree with those who have suggested that Royal Water is perhaps a bit too traditionally feminine for most men. I gave away my sample to a female friend of mine.

I have both and what's funny is that royal water smells more masculine on me than viw. I say go with Royal Water.

Royal Water is really unpopular over here for some reason, but it's great. It's a vibrany citrusy, happy scent with a little vegetable in it that always gets good feedback.

VIW is also wonderful, but in my experience it really doesn't last long.

Both of these are very much summer scents.

Royal Water can be found relatively cheap on ebay, whereas with VIW you won't get any deals.

    BdG
    BdP
    GIT
    Himalaya
    MI
    Neroli Savauge
    SMW

Seems like most think I should get something else. I'm going to blind buy since it has to be from Amazon & it needs to be in the next couple of days. With that in mind...other suggestions?

Count me in the minority that would choose RW over VIW. RW is not "great" but VIW is a such coconut bomb that it just says cheap suntan lotion to me. I SO wanted to like it I was virtually camped out at Neiman Marcus waiting for it. No joy.

I like VIW but i specifically remember the last time i tested it was last summer when i went to visit my parents in Phoenix, Arizona. I sprayed some VIW on in Neimans and as i was driving home i kept smelling what i thoght was my feet. Fortunately, though, it wasnt. I was smelling VIW. Maybe i sprayed to much on but that experience turned me off of VIW a little bit.

Now that I've seen the list of the ones you already own, I'd suggest that the two you consider next are Royal English Leather (leather and jasmine) and Bois de Cedrat (very refreshing lemon and ceder).

I had REL and traded it....I just wasn't a huge fan. As far as Vetiver, I had a sample of Guerlain's Vetiver and I did not like it at all....is the Creed one going to be any different? I appreciate the suggestion for Bois de Cedrat...other suggestions??

I don't like Guerlain's Vetiver, either. (That definitely puts us in a Basenotes minority.) Creed's OV really doesn't smell much like Guerlain's version. OV is fresh and green and without the tobacco note. It's easy to wear and not a particularly risky blind buy. My favorite vetiver, though, is Lorenzo Villoresi's. Again, it's not much like Guerlain's version nor is it like Creed's OV. LV's is very dark and earthy. You'd probably like it, although nothing could be less like the two you asked us to vote on this this one!

RW is very lemony. If that's your thing, you'll love it. Best longevity of ANY frag I've ever seen.
Looking for Hermessence Ambre Narguile and for TFPB Moss Breches (50ml bottle), willing to pay in cashdollars. PM me!

Royal Water is an exquisite fragrance and a picture of it should be found in webster dictionary at the word Class.

On the other hand VIW is more fun, youthful and energetic. I must admit, at first RW seemed like grandma smell, but after more sampling and time I developed a taste for this kind of fragrances, fresh top and heart over a base of white musk, it's a combination that simply amazes me every time.

But if I had to pick I'd choose RW just because it's a different fragrance concept and it's damn good and mature in a modern way.
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.
