Borneo 1834, Serge Lutens. It's in the Salon exclusive line - I'm not sure that they ship to Abu Dhabi but they will send you a solid perfume sample if you email them.

A milder version of A*Men that I find actually wearable is Animale Animale. It was the first chocolate scent and was produced before A*Men. It's got less of the burnt tar and I enjoy it much more. Also an excellent value.
There are other chocolates out there but not as similar to A*Men. I particularly enjoy Hanae Mori EDP.

Arrival of the Sabath and Homage to the Devil by BPAL is the most burt carmel scent I have ever smelled.
~Grenouille knew for certain that unless he possesed this scent, his life would have no meaning.~

Try IL Profumo (Chocolat)...share the same notes...try it...a lot of basenoters don´t know the house, but if you smell it you will be surprised!! Check out http://www.ilprofumoshop.com ...it is a bit expensive!

Blue Sugar by Aquolina -- A*men minus that rancid, migraine inducing, burnt tar note.

But plus a bitter almond note!

Give me bitter almond (and yes, that likely includes cyanide) any day of the week over that f*cking burnt tar note of A*men's.

I never tried Masaki Mat Chocolat but would like to mention it to see if anyone has opinions about it.

    And I second Hanae Mori

I like Ayala Moriel's Film Noir. Dark chocolate, myrrh, patchouli and a nice sweetness that makes it more a gourmand fragrance. Also I like SL Borneo 1834 which is similar to Film Noir but is more about the patchouli and bitter darkness of chocolate. Film Noir is chocolate and sweet with patchouli whereas Borneo is much darker and mysterious.

I also must put in a plug for Ayala's fragrances and not just because she is a basenoter. They are good! They are very concentrated perfume strength, quite reasonable in price for what you get and the formulas are very inventive. I have never been disappointed in an Ayala creation - they keep improving each time I try one on. My favorites are Rebellius, Espice Sauvage (way better than Noir Espices!) and of course, Film Noir.

Rochas Man is another one worth checking out.

The scent grows richer, he knows he must be near
He finds a long passageway lit by chandelier
Each step he takes, the perfumes change
From familiar fragrance to flavours strange
A magnificent chamber meets his eye

Just smelled one called Thallium -- it's not bad at all and (unlike its unfortunate name) it's not toxic, either -- it reminded me of both Rochas Man and (to a lesser extent) A*men.

Very gourmand stuff -- excellent for choco-coffee/mocha aficionados.

I sent Thallium to Thrax as a freebie on a purchase and he gave it away like me on his recent sales thread. lol.
It really smells kind of nice, but it just wasn't my personality. I thought Thrax may like it since he has a history of liking sweeter scents. Oh well, I hope it finds a good home eventually.

Blue Sugar was what came to mind though that has a lot of cedar and anise. I know I always say this but I don't think of A*Men as a chocolate fragrance. When it first came out I was told in a promo kit that it was meant to evoke the phases of a man's day, coffee being the prominent note, and I smell coffee but nothing in it lights up chocolate in my mind. Hmmm...

I didnt find it to be as sweet as I originally thought it would be. I though it more of a semi aquatic with more of an oriental dry down. Kind of like Laguna re-worked. Though there is no dark chocolate in it you may want to try Aomassai by Perfumerie Generale. Buttery caramel, hazelnut, and a very dark incensy dry down. It's one of my favorites.
