Absolutely - of course. If my husband doesn't care for a particular perfume then I don't wear it around him, period (...that is, after trying a few times to change his mind about it, lol - I gotta be sure!) I have so many perfumes to which he responds quite favorably, so it's my pleasure to wear one of those instead ...after all, I want him to like the way I smell. Besides, I can always enjoy the ones he doesn't like when he's away. He's out of town for a few days now, actually, so I've been treating myself to heavenly clouds of Angel!

Of course. I often wear perfumes that are not exactly loved by my husband or friends, just because I like them a lot. But if someone around me (colleagues, friends etc) is truly bothered or made uncomfortable by my perfume, I avoid that perfume around them.

We all consider smells to be an important aspect of our lives. Why not accept that they might be important for others too? There are always choices that can make ourselves happy and the others -well, at least, not miserable. Ideally, perfume appreciation should make us better people, not even more self involved and inconsiderate, in my opinion.

Yes. I listen to people on here. If someone has a good rave about something that sounds to my taste, I will add it to my mental test list. I wear a quite few things I may never have tried before this forum.

Not sure. DH has the standard 'if i can smell it i don't like it', he doesn't really like any scents, so I don't ask him for input about what smells to wear. The daughters usually have different taste from me (and from each other, BTW) so I don't really worry much about what they think either.

I do, however, refrain from wearing scent when specifically requested to do so, and if some particular smell was intolerable to DH or the girls I would not wear it, that's just mean, like blasting music nobody else in the house likes. Though, come to think of it, he does that sometimes, LOL. But I wouldn't. There aren't any headphones for scent.

Hardly ever! Of course, it's nice to get complimented and the occasional pleasant remarks are not that unimportant, but I mainly stick to my tastes irrespective of potential indifference or hostility

Absolutely. Haven't we all had that experience of being around someone who doused himself/herself in a scent that just does not smell good? There tends to be a "trying too hard" quality to this situation. People are trying to do us a favor when they say something to us about it, even if it feels harsh or offensive at the time. It's not like there aren't thousands of other frags to choose from.

Compliments influence what I wear. If you smell good, people will comment about that.

I wish I could say "no, I am not influenced by anyone, I only spray for myself" but I can't say that because it is not true. We are essentially social creatures; we know about beauty and ugliness from others. We wouldn't even have a sense of self without others.

If no one notices what you wear or notices it in a bad way, then what's the point in all that money down the drain?...
In a complete state of nature, with no one around, I suppose I could easily get used to my own BO...

I do try to make sure my husband likes what I wear, especially when we are driving or something, because I want to smell good for him and also because he can get nauseated very quickly by the wrong/too much scent. For the rest I wear perfume for myself alone

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”

    Very nicely put, dd.

Not really. I'd balk at wearing something like Angel to work meetings, or on a plane journey, but that's about it. My husband doesn't influence what I wear at all. He very rarely expresses strong feelings one way or the other about my scents, so I can pretty much wear what I like without worrying about bothering him. I'm not sure I'd care if he did express a strong negative opinion - if I can put up with his Leeds Utd obsession for over 20 years, he ought to be able to tolerate a few perfumes

Not at all Jon! I too have spent many a Sat'dy afternoon freezing cold in the stands at Elland Road, but my soft spot for the boys in white pales into insignificance next to my SO who can quote chapter, verse, statistics, goal scorers, dates, you name it, going back to the 1970s, and will be miserable for the entire weekend if they lose (and thus has been miserable quite a lot over the past few years!).
