Laura Biagiotti - never replied to email about samples.

Frederick Malle - did the 'find your scent' thing. They sent me 'Noir Epices' and 'Vetivier Extraordinaire' in reply to that.

Divine - I sent email asking about L'Homme Sage and L'Homme de Coeur and they sent me samples of all 5 of their fragrances.

Oh, and I stopped by the Hermes boutique. I had gone through all of my other ambers at least once and was going to re-test Amber Narguile. This time they had a sample vial. What a big one, too! It's about three times as long as a regular vial. My only gripe is that they narrow the neck, and I can't really get the juice out (I was going to decant into an atomizer).

    Hey Spirit,

What was the email you sent the request to at Lartisan?

I have not gotten a response yet...

    Hey Pas2iche,

Could you name 6 or 7 of montales fragrances that I should request to find a few I like?

I have had no response from Montale or L'Artisan so far (after a week or so), but keeping fingers crossed maybe something will come.

Meanwhile Jo Malone have sent me a 1.5ml sample of Grapefruit, and two scent strips of Pomegranet Noir and Nectarine Blossom.

So far I've been lucky with Lubin, Malle, Divine, Ormonde Jayne and Jo Malone. Goutal sent an email saying that they only give samples with purchases.

Can you tell me what the website for Lubin is?

When emailing these companies for samples is it better to include the list of frags you wanna sample or should you just ask for random samples? Seem to me it might be better to mention a number of the scents you would like to try.

Yeah definitely mention the scents you want, because you'll always usually get more than if you just ask for samples. Plus you may not even get what you actually wanted.

I realize this is really late in the game, but its really frustrating to see people getting positive responses back from places and yet failing to share the email address you used to contact the company.

If I might request/suggest that if you DO get positive results back from a company, please share the email address you used or share the URL of the form you filled out to request your samples?

I'd also like to suggest that we set up some sort of collection or database of contact info for these companies.

    Thanks,

    DrB

Apparently Jo Malone does not send out samples for general distribution.

    My Reply:

    "Hello,

Don't you think it is a bad idea to not send out samples? I was planning on buying Jo Malone fragrances, but since I have no way to test it, I will look to another company to spend money on fragrances. In truth, not sending out samples is just a bad business practice. I hope your company will learn better business practice. It's a shame too, because I was looking forward to some of the scents your company has for sale on your website. Oh well.

    Sincerely,
    Ben"

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I emailed Jo Malone asking specifically about the Grapefruit fragrance, and they did send me a 1.5ml sample within a week or so.

My way is always to express interest in one specific fragrance. I think you are more likely to get a response that way than if you simply ask for "samples". Sometimes if you are lucky they will send extra stuff as well. For example I asked Ormonde Jayne for Ormonde Man, but they also sent me Isfarkand.

Here is the funny repsonse I got form Escentric Molecules to my question if they could send me samples of their 2 frags:

"Well...No... not really, but you can go to Barneys and NM. They both carry our scents"

Bond No. 9 sends samples as long as you pay the shipping and handling. Not a bad deal, but I still wont do it. Amouage is sending samples now and I recontacted Jo Malone interested in one fragrance to see if it works. Now we play the waiting game.....

Aw the waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos

The Bond ones are worth it though...its onyl 6 bucks for 6 samples. But not having a credit card would be a pain.

Ah damn it I hate not having one. I'm trying to get my mom to cosign it. She'll come around. I'm pretty persuasive and expert in hypnotizing. You all want to send me all your L'Artisans, Creeds, Bonds, and everything else...etc etc. See, it almost worked.

I'm disappointed with Bond No 9. They would not send me samples, but instead referred me to Harvey Nichols store in London.

Living in NYC is not so great if you wanna get free samples because most fragrance places have stores here and they want you to just go to their store.
    F. Malle for example will not give in. I did get great stuff from Diptique and Divine so far. So bascially if they don't have a store near you they will send (on the other hand Hermes is sending samples of all their mens line and they have a store in Manhattan) so you never know.

Diptyque have sent Tam Dao in a 2ml spray which put a smile on my face. Along with a nice little handwritten note signed "Amanda" saying she hopes I enjoy it!

Last Thursday I wrote to L'Artisan and asked for some samples. I didn't think they will send anything because after I wrote them the email I checked again on thier country list to see if they have a retailer and I saw that one showed up; this morning I found in my mail box a small envelope in which there were 3 sample vials of 1 ml: Premiere Figuier Extreme, Mure et Musc Extreme and Voleur de Roses. Too bad Voleur de Roses vial was broken in transit, but that's not L'Artisan fault. Well, I think L'Artisan is truly an exceptional house if it bothers to send samples even if you have a retailer in your town.

I emailed L'Artisan nearly two weeks ago now, but got nothing so far! I'm quite disappointed. I had requested the Fou D'Absinthe.

This is what happened when I requested a sample from Hermès, even though I stated I live in Norway, where we don't have a single Hermès retailer:

We have well received your e-mail and we thank you very much for your interest.

With regard to your inquiry about samples, we are very sorry but we can't satisfy you.
In fact, the publicity materials, samples... are reserved for professional use.

That is why we advise you to visit our Hermes stores or our official retailers and ask for samples.

I also received almost the same answer; I too specified that the Hermes fragrances aren't available in my town. At least the answer shows that they value the etiquette.

Peace, don`t bother with Hermes...They won`t send samples to Finland due their strange logical thinking. (they said to me that since in Finland there is no retailer, I can`t have the samples. No matter even when I wrote couple of times back, trying to explain that even when Finland is kind of "wide place in the road", I sure can order things here from some net-shops...

i contacted 10 corso como recently (actually, 3 weeks ago!), and i finally heard back from them today. they say they cannot, "by law", send me samples overseas. they said, in fact, that they can't even send me a full bottle if i decided to buy one. so, if you're in the states, don't waste your time trying to get anything from 10 corso como.

does anyone around here have any samples of 10 corso como?
