Cool Re: getting free company samples

Malle sent me samples a while back, 3 5mL samples. Amazing stuff. Divine did the same, vials of all 5 of their fragrances. And I contacted a bunch of places yesterday. 4 have sent back emails. Mugler, Trumper, and Hermes are sending samples. Amouge isnt. Ah well, a great day nonetheless.

Negative response here. They told me their products are shipped to stores only and never reach any of their offices.

It's strange to hear that about Hermès because in the shops themselves (for example Bond St, London) they are fairly generous. In fact they give out bunches of 4ml samples of Ambre Narguile etc without you having to even buy anything.

They seem a bit mean to international email enquirers though, from the posts I've seen.

I did get some samples from Hermes the other day. All 3 men's frags and I live in NYC. Obviously they have a store in Manhattan, yet they still sent it.

I just wanted to drop you a line on this. Recently, Montale replied back to me, it was 22 days after I wrote to them. They apologized for the delay in replying and asked me to forward my address.

Well, I hope I will eventually hear from Montale; I had requested a sample of Black Aoud almost a month ago, so am starting to give up hope!

On the bright side, Geo F Trumper have kindly sent me five little vials, including the Sandalwood Cologne that I had specifically asked for and others such as the West Indian Extract of Limes etc. They are rather small samples, about 1ml from the look of it, but nice to get such an interesting selection.

Hmmm, I emailed Mugler over 6 weeks ago ([email protected]) and have not heard anything from them at all.

Bond No. 9 just referred me to a London store (Harvey Nichols, far from my workplace or home), which was not very helpful.

L'Artisan have not responded to my request for Fou D'Absinthe, since I sent an email about one month ago.

Goutal sent a very snooty reply saying they won't send samples, and suggested I purchase a bottle! Sorry but that sort of nonsense puts me off buying anything from their range.

As I mentioned above, still waiting for Montale, after nearly a month.

The good news is that Caron have emailed me to say they are sending a sample of Yatagan :-)

Other generous companies who have kindly sent me stuff include Malle, Trumper, Ormonde Jayne, Jo Malone, Acqua di Parma, Divine, Lubin and Diptyque. Good for them, they have encouraged my custom, I have already bought products from Divine, Diptyque and Jo Malone, and will be visiting Ormonde Jayne soon to buy the superb Isfarkand.

Call 1-212-228-1732, for Bond samples. They are 6 samples for $6, shiping included.

I can't get a response out of Trumper, Malle, or any of the others you mentioned other than Ormond Jayne, who sent me a wonderful package of two samples, wrapped up in tissue and tied with an Ormond Jayne ribbon, along with a handwritten note.

    Fabulous.

Ormond Jayne are so cool and their scent absolutely rocks. Thanks for your suggestions re the Mugler and Bond. I'm sorry you had no luck with Trumper or Malle. Strange.

It all seems a bit random and arbitrary. Sometimes people get generous amounts of samples, or one or two samples while yet others receive nothing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about Montale, after reading reports on another thread about them sending out huge samples of 10ml and 20ml. But it's been a month since I contacted them. Hmmm.

Does it depend on the particular person who is on duty to answer the emails at the time you contact the company? Just a guess. Or perhaps we have to be very patient and wait, and wait.... Who knows!

I actually called T. Mugler. I think I found the number in a similar thread and the lady sent me everything I asked for (A Men and TMC). That may be another key, calling instead of writing. If they hang the phone up they know that you'll never buy anything from them again. If they don't respond well it must have gotten lost with the dozens of other emails. I'll wait a few weeks then I might start calling.

Day 1 and I recieved a response for Trumpers. They are sending sample vials. First response.

Edit: Hermes responded and they are sending two of the samples I requested also. They said 7-10 days.

Edit: Caron responded and is sending 3 samples.

Edit: Malle responded and offered 2 samples (neither of which I wanted, but still accepted).

I wrote to L'Artisan as well and they never responded. I recieved the samples I requested from them yesterday. So I'm assuming they'll just send you whatever you requested in a timely manner without letting you know it's on the way so it's kind of like a surprise, if you will.

    BTW, L'Artisan is amazing.

Just did some investigation online and found out that Barneys may be able to ship some samples. They are going to put me into contact with the American Sales Rep from Serge Lutens.

If things work out I'll give you my contact numbers.

I received an e-mail from L'Artisan asking to sample some of the fragrances I didn't purchase from them 2 months ago and have yet to receive a sample...I'm going to e-mail Montale though, cause after purchasing two FINE frags from them or actually Vijay (Fougeres Marine and Black Oud) I am VERY happy with those two...fantastic frags on either side of the spectrum...I'm very interested in the Oud Lime, Sandalsliver, and the other Lime frag...can't remember the name at this point...

Caron impressed me...I wrote asking about some samples and got a response almost immediately, it seemed, asking for my address. They're sending everything I asked for.

Interestingly enough, I wrote Mugler asking about the Angel Men Summer Flash and I guess the rep didn't remember me (not surprised, since she does do other things than sit around thinking about ME), but she offered to send me another Mugler sample package.

    I'm torn...should I take it? ::
