Default Rank your frags: First to last

Well, I thought it'd be interesting to see people rank their entire wardrobe (feel free to include things you've sampled extensively or have decants of) from first place to last place. Not only should it stir up some discussion, it'll help us see who has truly similar tastes. I thought of breaking it down by category, but seeing as it's hard to classify some frags as they walk on the border, I figured it'd be easiest just to do a straight listing.

    So, here are mine

    1. Antidote
    2. Grey Flannel
    3. L'Anarchiste
    4 AdP Colonia
    5. Iris Bleu Gris

This is an impossible task, for me, as there's not one scent I love more than the other - any frags that I loved less than my core favourites have already been removed from my wardrobe. This is something I realised had to be done over a year ago, in order to keep my wardrobe as small as possible. So far, I've yet to find this method problematic.

Well, I know things can and do change from day to day. This isn't carving anything into stone, but more of a lighthearted and hopefully fun task of just choosing what you like more than what, at this particular moment.

I suppose the task becomes exponentially more difficult the more frags one has, though.

    1. Dunhill Edition (almost impossible to be topped by other scents--for I had taken 13 years to find it from the day I got a whiff from a salesman. Thanks to basenotes again.)
    2. Kiton Black (have tested twice, looking to buy it)
    3. Rochas Lui
    4. Michael Kors
    5. Creed MI
    6. Creed GIT
    7. Dior Homme
    8. Antidote
    9. Aigner Suede Edition
    10. Romance Silver

These are my TOP 10 at the moment.
    Current Top 5

    1. Creed Aventus
    2. A*Men Pure Malt
    3. L'instant Extreme
    4. Nasomatto Duro
    5. CDG - Kyoto

This is how I rank it at this time and space... a tricky exercise indeed!

    1. Love Potion No.9
    2. Eau d'Orange Verte
    3. Mugler Cologne
    4. Narciso For Him
    5. L'air du Desert Marocain
    6. Black Orchid
    7. Colonia Intensa
    8. Montale Lime
    9. Carthusia Uomo
    10.Scent Intense

    17.ST Dupont Noir
    18.Eau Noire
    19.Aoud Flowers
    20.Attar
    21.Prada Amber
    22.Le Vainqueur
    23.Escada PH
    24.Burberry London
    25.Opium PH
    26.Vera Wang Men
    27.L'Instant de Guerlain
    28.Black Tie

    30.Envy
    31.White Aoud
    32.Black Aoud
    33.ST Dupont L'eau
    34.Bois d'Argent
    35.C&S No.88
    36.Valentino V Man
    37.Céline PH
    38.Blue Amber

Ive found it quite an interesting exercise (and a bit horrifying as well). I keep saying to myself "oh nooooo! THAT cant go all the way down there!!"
Thing is, I don't own bottles or decants of anything I dont like, so even those ranked low are there simply because of the COLOSSAL nature of those at the top!

SculptureOfSoul: Your no.1 doesn't surprise me one bit, given the number of times you mention it here. That being said, Im sure my number 1 will not come as a surprise to many either!

    1) L'eau Par Kenzo (I should have bought this eons ago)
    2) John Varvatos (I sold my full bottle of this, but I do have a mini, I only use this for formal dinners, so it suffices for once or twice a month)
    3) Bvlgari Aqva (Even though I started to dislike the saltiness of this, I took it off my for sale list and came running back to it like a hot ex-girlfriend)
    4) Burberry Brit (I used up a sample of this, I liked it, but it didn't last long at all, I got an actual bottle, it stuck on my arm for from the afternoon until 2-3 in the morning, good stuff)

Great idea. The lists above have given me some additional ideas of frags to try. Seeing what other folks like and who has similar tastes can help narrow down the field of choices. Here's my modest line up in order of preference:

    AdP Colonia
    Penhaligon's Castile
    Burberry Brit
    Castle Forbes Gentlemen's Cologne
    Castle Forbes Keig
    Floris Vetiver
Hanae Mori H.M. (only after rinsing off the initial vanilla sweetness, then it's great)
    Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
    Trumper's West Indies Limes
Truefitt & Hills West Indies Limes
    California North Oxygen
    Floris Cefiro
    Floris JF

In the stash but untried: Bulgari Black and Michael for Men.

I feel that it is impossible to write such a list. There are fragrances that are good in one department, and others that are good in other departments. I could tell you my favorite fragrance for seduction, or my favorite oriental, or my favorite pine, or my favorite fougere, or my favorite rose. It is easier when you create subclasses. But it is impossible to put all the fragrances in the same category and make one big ranking.

    Impossible.

Hehe, I can't count the 10 or so fragrances that i've got coming from Somethinpositiv (lets just say he had a lot of stuff that I wanted for cheap!) So currently, i've only got five, along with Kingdom Parfum on the way.

    Bois D'Argent
    Bandit Pour Homme
    Cologne Blanche
    Mitsouko
    Coriolan

Kingdom Parfum will slot it nicely between Bandit and Bois
