Smile What fragrance would Count Dracula wear?

He's lived for centuries and had the chance to try out whatever he wanted, and he would have a chance to really find the holy grail of fragrances. He's young and old at the same time, mystic, powerful, classy and romantic in a gothic/morbid way, excentric, lives in a castle almost always surrounded by mist, he seduces young virgins and money would be no problem whatsoever. What fragrance/scent would he wear?

Based on what I've heard elsewhere, whenever I think about vampires in general, I think of Czech & Speake No. 88.

Just my two cents, though. . .

    Drakkar Noir.

Just kidding, actually. The name just seems to fit. I have no idea what he'd wear. But from accounts of his exploits he might have worn a pretty powerful pheromone.

You forgot to add that he also likes to bite young handsome men on the neck, when girls are not available. He is a true libertine, in that sense.

I would guess he wears strong amber fragrances. He would like Ambre Sultan.

Penhaligon's Castile. It has a clean, fresh scent; is nice and masculine; and is timeless. Would help cover up that nasty stink from sleeping on dirt, would fit right in in almost any time, and is classy enough for a Count.

I had a similar reaction to Stephen King's Salem's Lot when I was a kid. I had a silver cross, and would put it on top of the book every night. To keep the vampires in the book. Where they belonged! Made perfect sense to a 16-year-old kid.

    How about Secretions Magnifiques?

It could be his version of a gourmand with it's metallic blood scent.

It would certainly get the lady vamps' attention.

Penhaligons HAmmam Bouqet or C&S88 for his public image. Lime or Black Aoud is also a good suggestion. But for dinner... Sécrétions Magnifiques, blood and erotism. End of discussion.

You know what? Dracula was discovered in Victorian England, so it is logical to assume that he would wear victorian perfumes. Hammam Bouquet is a good bet.

Voleur de Roses--intoxicating and seductive, just like the Count. The damp earth note makes me think of an old, musty castle.

I was going to say L'Anarchiste because it smells like blood, or Black Aoud, because it's dark and overpowering, but that combo sounds downright nuclear!

I think of Dracula as a rose man for some reason though.

Watch this movie, it's very good.

    Totally black Aoud....

The first time I smelled it I thought that this must have been what the blood coursing through the artery just under the surface of the flesh of Lucy's neck must have smelled like to Dracula right before he killed her.

That scent brings out my wicked side...

BPAL did and Order of the Dragon series, was it...last year? Count Dracula was leather and cloves. I didn't think it fit. They have another, Dracul, that is part of their GC.

I think that Chypre Rouge would be a good fit. It smells somewhat like earth, stones, blood, and sweet richness. I'd totally snuggle up and submit...

Well, if he was still hang'n around in the 80's, he would have added Salvador Dali pour homme to his wardrobe. He, like Sweeney Todd, was once beautiful -- but became decayed. Dracula would find beauty in decay, and his fragrance would have to reflect this. Salvador Dali pour homme smells like a beautiful garden that has decayed--leaving fragrant hints of its' past.

    Superior! I was wondering.

In case YOU were wondering, Sesame Street's The Count would wear Ungaro I, II, and III sequentially on three days in a row and then start over again. He'd also make sure by matching the scent to the number of extended fingers in the morning.

Y'know, I hear this in every other review of L'Anarchiste and have to wonder what blood these people are smelling. I've smelled copious amounts of blood of every type (I work in intensive care, I've scent sampled pretty much every horrid thing that a person can secrete, leak, or otherwise emit) and I don't remotely make the association with L'Anarchiste.

This may be true for old-world vampires. Serge instead represents a new type of (blood-)"sucker". Wearing "A la Nuit" protects him from immediate incineration.

You guys have a wrong mental picture of vampires. Count Dracula was old and creepy, yes, but only in the beginning of the book. As soon as he drank a young virgin's blood, he became young, beautiful and charming again! Of course, he kept the sharp teeth and milk-white skin. But he was very attractive nonetheless.

Here's what a young vampire would look like:

I'm fairly sure that the Dracula tale is true and I'm tempted to say he's alive and well, which he most definitely is not.

He does have an account with Black Phoenix Labs.

Thanks for all replies, got some really nice suggestions I need to try out! I'm not a Dracula-wannabe, but I'm very fascinated with old victorian tales/history. Fragrances like those suggested here would be wonderful to wear for own pleasure while reading old horror tales at home, or just wear when you go out for a walk a rainy evening .

I have never tried anything from Czech & Speake, but I love Tea for Two by L'Artisan. I hate Black XS by Paco Rabanne. I love the rose in Acqua di Parma Colonia. I find Montale Black Aoud interesting, but it's too heavy and sweet. I also love Rain and Dirt from Demeter (but never wear them).

Based on the above, if I had to choose from L'Artisan's Voleur de Roses and Czech & Speake No 88, which one do you think would fit me? I've read the reviews and descriptions, and they both sounds wonderful in different ways.

You must try out the sensual, bright side of roses too: Hammam Bouquet. It was developed in the period when Dracula was moving from Transylvania to London!

Yes you're right, forgot that one. So, of those three, if I only had to get one - which? Anyone of you tried all three and could describe their differences/strenghts/weaknesses?

I tried samples of Voleur and 88, and I do have a bottle of Hammam Bouquet. Hammam Bouquet is by far the best one of the three....it is a sensual, languid, supremely beautiful fragrance. But you must have a certain degree of confidence to wear it, because it is powdery. Not powdery like the classic Guerlains; it is a vaporous, airy character, not in the least sweet. I love it.

I wouldn't mind sending you a sample. Send me a PM. I just need to find a tiny bottle, but I think I have a spare one.

I would say Jicky, by Guerlain
I would definitely envision a beautiful creature biting my neck, to be surrounded in that scent.

    So,

Is it a vote, do we get a tally? What cologne won?
