Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

Dredged this up out of the distant past because I saw the review in Turin's new book. It really is an extraordinary scent, and I remember that when it was introduced
it was very controversial. (Am I revealing my age here?) It was a novel use of green notes in the top to overwhelm the citrus,
and the sweet floral notes and almondy, slightly powdery drydown seemed out of character with the rest of the scent.
I guess we would now say that Grey Flannel's nose, André Fromentin, was a visionary. A leap of the olfactory imagination, for sure.

This early morning i'm enjoying the sublime, earthy rose drydown that's wafting from my chest...Iquitos.
(And its very nice!)
I have that supposedly reformulated version (125ml) and I just couldn`t ask for more. This is one of the best scents ever made. Would like to smell the old juice too, though.
Santa Maria Novella-- Nostalgia
Found out it was a great scent to wear to work. Who knew?

Another glorious morning, I've stayed up all night and I'm watching the sun rise - it's that time of the semester, yes, papers are due and I'm paying dearly for procrastination. Will have to go to the last class of this academic year unwashed. What's my SotD going to be?

Kind of hangovered today, so needed something to wake me up: vintage Chamade extract + EdT - it actually works on hangovers...
I agree with Luca Turin that the new seems somewhat 'flat' and milky compared to the original formulation.

Happy May Day! Lovely spring weather, but it's still a bit chilly, so I'm in the simultaneously light and slighltly warm Yves Rocher Voile d'Ambre.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson
My sale thread has some of my underappreciated fragrances looking for a good, new home...
J'Adore by Calice Becker for Dior.
This was one of those happy occasions where the e-tail ordered Real Thing matched the magazine scent strip! LOVED the original adverts with the beautiful blond in a pool of molten gold, wearing ubangi-style rings up her long gorgeous neck, her skin Goldfinger-ed and shimmery. LOVED the play on words....a seamless blend of violets and peaches and melons and muguet over soft sandalwood.
