An incredible green chypre for men. Why this was ever discontinued is a great mystery to me. It is one of the best of its kind. The herbal notes — rosemary, lavender, and tarragon — take the lead, and are soon reinforced by a galbanum accord in the heart. The citrus, herbals, and spice in the top notes are transformed by the florals in the heart and a classic woody chypre drydown lingers with subtle green hues persisting until the end. If only it weren't so difficult to find! I have one bottle in reserve, and then... pfft!

Wearing a sample of Serge Lutens Louve today.

When researching the notes for this one I only came across bad reviews! Most common was the comment that it was 'boring', 'pretty', 'not at all like the name suggests' and so on... basically not what other's have come to think of Serge Lutens fragrances. Since I had classes today but wanted to continue sampling, I decided to go with something 'safe.'

Right out of the bottle I was intrigued! This is a very 'cold' fragrance, certainly bringing to mind pure, untouched snow and ice. It is indeed very pretty and has a sweetness to it, but I found it had something realling interesting and different about this. It seems like it will be light, but it lasts wonderfully and isn't as light as I first thought. Something about Louve brings the emotion of loneliness about. Not that *I* felt lonely while wearing it, but the scent evoked that idea in me. While this is no she-wolf, I rather think this is more of an arctic fox. Cute and cuddly and pure untouched white, but alone in a frigid cold location.

Second day into my Rose Week in N'Aimez Que Moi (Caron) thanx to TWolfie.

I like the "aloofness" of Carons and this lady stands apart too - a little melancholy... rosiness hidden in cedar and moss. Really could have used an uplift this ayem (miss the kaffee klatch with Just Us Girls) and while NQM is delicate and pretty, she's not buoyant.

My sample is from the wonderful Musse! She's introduced me to all sorts of lovelies! I think by the end of my sampling I'm going to be craving a full bottle of several scents. Already I'm looking at the Louve bottle at beautyhabit and wondering if it's worth it (with that 25% discount going on now). It's $140 there, so rather more than the usual. I think you would quite possibly like it Jillsy; I found it really lovely and interesting. After putting it on at 9:30am it is finally fading away now at almost 10pm.

At last one community for the SotD. It's good to see everyone together.

My SotD is TOUAREGH, by Il Profumo (nose Silvana Casoli).

Notes: lavender, mint, desert melon, bay, vetiver, patchouli, nutmeg, yellow rose and palmarossa. I had to google for palmarossa, and found the description 'fresh, floral, sweet, somewhat similar to geranium oil'.

This is a lovely spicy floral which bears a slight resemblance to the medicine cabinet in a good way (the combination of lavender and nutmeg) , then it settles into its own. It is invigorating and different, and I'm very pleased to wear it.
