Default Do you share your fragrances with your pet dog?

Don't have a cat, but if you want to post about your pet cat, feel free. I try to let my dog smell the scent, and I''ve found his reactions interesting. He wants to lick Animale Animale (chocolate scent). He really hates chemical-like scents (such as what emanates from those liquid band aids), he is quickly bored by green scents, and he looks around (apparently to see if there is another animal present) when I wear frags with a strong animalic note (like Vermeil)..

Yes, I do. Inadvertently. Hard to not share with the dog when you spray your wrists.

Sam likes Cologne Nature, Penhaligon's Castile, Agrumi di Sicilia, Fresca di Vetiver, and Burberry Brit. He does not like Bandit, Michael for Men, Bulgari Black, most of the Creeds (seriously), and Hanae Mori H.M. Those he likes, he tries to lick off; those he doesn't like make him sneeze and look at me in a "what were you thinking" kind of way.

I love Bandit and occasionally enjoy Bulgari Black and H.M. So our tastes differ somewhat. But, like his owner, he seems to have exquisite taste.

at first I tried to keep my freshly sprayed wrists away from my dog because I thought they'd offend her sensitive nose, but she is having none of it.

Anything I spray on she gets her nose right up into and the stuff she likes she tries to lick off. That's getting annoying since we seem to share similar tastes and for some reason doogy slobber just doesn't strike me as the best fixative for my scents.

I need to get her her own bottle of "Eau de something-I'd-roll-in".

We can buy perfume for our pooches! Seriously. But this is just a little too precious for me or Sam. He's a "he man" kinda dog. Even though he's been fixed.

I do sometimes spray Eau D' Hiver, or Tubereuse40 on my hands, and pet him. I love the way he smells.

Turin talked about the stigma against men and the sense of smell, in the context of fragrances. From the posts on this thread, it seems that even men who have overcome this stigma have another one, which I couldn't have imagined. Since a dog's sense of smell is so much better than ours, we have everything to gain and nothing to lose from sharing the scents. Also, it allows us to interact with our pets in a way they understand better than us, and many of our pets don't get as much sensory stimulation as they would in the wild, so from my experience, it gives them something to keep their minds occupied.
