    Givenchy
    Monsieur de Givenchy
    (1959)
    Roure

Top Notes: Lemon, Carnation, Cinnamon, Black Pepper
    Middles Notes: Lavender, Verbena
    Base Notes: Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Musk
A very clean, gentlemanly scent featuring lemon and verbena notes, ably supported by lavender and spice, a hint of fresh floral, and an oakmoss-woody drydown.
Very classic and chic, it has a minimalist feel that makes it seem much more modern than the Cold War baby it is. At almost fifty years old, it is still in style today.

I didn't like it when I smelled it but that description ("sickly sweet", "boozy", "fruit pudding") makes me want to go sniff it again!

HAPPIEST of B-days to our esteemed and modest moderator CoL..

And because P. Turin suggested that VIW is a sort of knock of - and not as good as - I am in

    BBW Coconut Lime Verbena

..."two *s - pina colada - at eleven times the price"

Take me to de Islands, Mon!!

Edited later: Did an arm side-by-side - and I gotta say the VIW dries down green and dusty and cedar-y on me - whilst the CLV is warmer with just a hint of coconut and a blush of verbena. Better, IMN-S-H0!!!

Today it's Chanel Bois des Iles for me, with a little test spot of Fragonard's Fragonard , thanks to the marvelous Twolf!
