I actually prefer Cool Water.
Any, I don't like them. Too ozonic to me !

I actually prefer Cool Water.
Cool Water hands down. I am tired with all this Creeds snobism.

Don't like both.. Cool Water is an expensive mineral water with a smell.. while GIT is not my style.. but quality though.
unico grande amore.
Ahhhh SamplerMike! The anti-everso. How I miss those days.
PS. Green Irish Tweed hands down.

They both appeal to me and i use CW more often coz i can afford to, but much less with GIT coz its really ex here, quality-wise, GIT hands down..... think this is a repeated thread but heck![]()
I do too. Thee was a certain excitement - you never knew when a simple, innocent post would cause a rash of personal insults. Plus, if you were bored, you could also post an inflammatory comment about Creed in one of their posts and wait for the fireworks.
Sigh...it's been a while since we've had a thread locked. Maybe I'll start a new one titled "Fragrances are for losers."![]()

GIT.................All the way
Was the whole issue ever resolved about both of these fragrances being made by the same nose? I seem to remember some huge dust-up about that issue.
I think this thread is hilarious.

GIT is wayyyy overrated![]()
Perfume noob
Neither one does it for me. Both smell exactly the same. I don't care what anyone says. My father, who wore Cool Waters for years swears GIT has a significantly different smell. He says it is more "soothing" and he may have said classier. I think it's hogwash, personally. They both smell the same.
I think it's quite unfair to compare a mass market product to an expensive niche one. If Davidoff can charge as much as Greed, I'm sure CW would be much better than GIT. Budget wise, GIT cost nearly 5 times more than CW. So if you divide GIT quality to 5 then compare that 1/5 to CW the picture will be clearer and fairer. Not really a fan but I'm standing on CW's side this time.

I agree that they both smell the same. But it's like comparing a Big Mac to a world class burger. Sure they both taste like burgers but one is clearly better. For me it is highly evident that GIT uses far higher quality ingredients, and smells far more natural and smooth overall than the highly synthetic smelling Cool Water.

I find no similarities regarding both scents.
Even if I could convince my self that they are somehow similar I'd say
CW looks like a kid's hilarious attempt to mimic GIT.
I currently have both of them and CW whilst it is a good mainstream scent up till
this day, it's middle isn't as good as GIT. There something peculiar there, maybe the geranium note.
So, +1 for GIT here.
If you test these side by side, it is easy to discern the extra quality in Green Irish Tweed. One really has to extract Luca Turin and value for money from the equation, based solely on quality, it really is an easy choice.

GIT of course.
About the comparison... At some point over the last 3 years, an official Creed sample vial filled with Cool Water made it's way to me. I don't know where I got it or who originally filled it. All I know is that there are people out there sampling Cool Water, thinking it's GIT, and coming to the invalid conclusion that they are identical.
Anyone who says they are identical is simply wrong. I will fight with you for the rest of my life about this if I have to. They ARE different.
Lately I've been wearing:
Windsor, Bois de Santal, Original Santal, Elixir, Douro, Endymion, Reflection, Arcus, Marwah
I can't believe it hasn't been said in 50 posts, what about Chez Bond?! A youthful take on GIT, with better longevity and sillage! Superior in my view, some may find it too sweet or feminine though.
GIT is superior to Cool Water though, especially the current versions with all the lavender thrown in.

Cool Water is a way much better scent.
Way much better.
I like GIT as well, but Cool Water is miles away.
I like GIT much more, but the original Cool Water made some years ago was almost as good.
This is one of those threads which I must kick in my two scents. I discovered Green Irish Tweed in 2000, long before I became a Basenoter. It was due to the recommendation of the Neimans SA, which turned out to be an excellent choice. I found my receipt the other day and I paid $120 USD for a four ounce black flask. Ah, inflation!
Which is better? You must be joking! To my nose, GIT is FAR superior and exudes a very refined sense of class. It really was one of my first fragrance loves.
I sampled Cool Water once, and once was enough! I simply do not get the comparisons at all. Yes, they are similar fragrances, but where GIT exudes quality and class, Cool Water is horrific synthetic crap that I could not wait to wash off.
Best to Everyone,
TJ
GIT is heaven in a bottle.
I wore Cool Water for years but there's no comparison.
I DO like the peppermint in the top of Cool Water, though. But on the whole, it's just way too synthetic.
Green Irish Tweed is the better scent.
GIT all the way!
