Narciso Rodriguez for Him
by Narciso Rodriguez
Top notes: Violet Leaf, Aromatic Note
Middle notes: White Musk
Base notes: Patchouli, Amber
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost
Still on the Guerlain kick . . .
I love Jasmine.
Acqua di ParmaColonia Assoluta
Jardin du Nil
Along with ultra-rare Soir d`Orient, this is my MPG favourite. Some of you thinks this is a stinker, but I don`t see that at all. To me this is a clean, rich, supernatural floral with green and fruity accents.
I smell loads of mint at the beginning, then ripe and juicy blackberries, and also.....ketchup. Yes, this definitely smells like ketchup during the drydown. You shouldn`t disagree.
Forever lasting, unreal creation.

I love cologne.
Balmain de Balmain
Top Notes: Bergamot, Galbanum, Pepper, Cassia Buds
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Rose, iris,
Base Notes: Patchouli, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Vetiver
A very green spicy top sets the tone for this revival of the classic chypre style. The innovative stroke here in the green chypre sub-genre is the inclusion of cassia buds to provide an aromatic woody-spicy note in the top. The floral bouquet in the heart is not novel, but seems to me to be remarkably well-balanced. The classic chypre triad bergamot-oakmoss-patchouli gives this a truly classic profile, and the inclusion of sandalwood and vetiver in the base reinforces the woody hint first given in the cassia buds. All in all, very classic, yet satisfyingly updated with a bit of zing. Luca Turin says this is a man's chypre, and I think I agree. At least one woman reviewer on Basenotes does too. By now, the floral accord in the heart would be no surprise in any men's fragrance. I like this for cool to temperate days or summer evenings, but it works pretty well in any weather.

It has disappeared on me. Used half a sample vial. Last night, I rubbed the little daubber on the back of my hand and got a deeper rose, and soap. This morning, splashed it on face and neck, little dab on wrists, nothing.
