    Default Alternatives to Amouage's classics?

    Hello there fragance lovers!

See... I´m looking for alternatives to Amouage´s male fragance classics (I love them all !!).

By the way (and thanks to member Marlen!), I´ve already found two alternatives to one of the classics: REFLECTION MAN... I´ve just found Mont Blanc's Individuel and Balenciaga´s Cristobal... Both do the job very well!

So, do you know any alternative to the classics DIA, CIEL and specially GOLD MAN (I felt in love with this one when got the sample!)?

    Thanks in advance!

Cristobal an alternative of Reflection? I couldn't have dreamed of that in my wildest dreams! The closest to Reflection I have smelt- and that too by a million miles- is Joop! Pour Homme. Make Joop refined, a bit sweeter and floral and take away the loudness and you will get Reflection.

I'll have to check out those rec's for the Reflection clones...Anyway, L'instant and Dia have similar characteristics, so give those a try. You would be hard pressed to find clones of the other ones IMHO...I would love to have a clone of Silver Cologne, but I don't think its out there.

I find some similarities between Creed Acier Aluminum and Dia.

AA is a little dirtier and animalic than Dia.

Maybe not the kind of alternative you're looking for since AA is only slightly cheaper than dia.

I can't think of anything close to the Amouage's. You may find scents with similar notes at similar points in the drydown but the overall complexity of the scent and quality of the Amouage materials is not frequently evident from most other manufacturers.
Like it or not, nothing is close to Gold.

Comme des Garcon 3 smells a lot like Dia. Dia has more floral notes, slightly more feminine, but the overall effect is very similar - I prefer CdG 3.

Amouge Jubilation XXV is quite similar to CdG Kyoto with a hint of rose thrown in - Le Labo Rose 31 = 2 parts Kyoto to 1 part Rose 31 . The perfumer who created Kyoto and Jubilation XXV are the same - Bertrand Duchaufour - hence the similarity. In this case though I still prefer Jubilation XXV!

The closest thing that comes to Gold is cat piss on grandma's rug.

Why look for alternatives when you have the real thing at your doorstep??? Your flag indicates you're in Abu Dhabi which is right next to Amouage's home in Oman isn't it?

The best of Amouage is incredibly good and I can't imagine finding alternatives of the same quality... I'd save my money up and go for the (real) Gold!

I agree with mudassir, when I tried Reflection Man my first thought was of a sophisticated Joop PH.

Neither of those scents come anywhere near as close to Amouage Reflection Man as this does:

Would be very interestd to hear if anyone else has found a Jubilation XXV alternative....it's based around a newer inexpensive synthetic so it shouldn't be that difficult for another house to replicate the overall ambiance. Anyone?

Dullah, I will be sure to sample Arabian Nights. As for Jubilation, man, I swear Jo malone's Pomegranete comes REALLLY close to it. Do check it out.

For those that think Joop smells similar to Reflection, I must say...I had Joop in my gym bag the other day, and somehow the top had come off and some of the juice was sprayed. Well when I opened my bag, between the Joop and the mustiness of my bag, the smell coming from my bag came off very very similar to Reflection. I was like wow, this is quite interesting. As nice (and somewhat similar) as Joop is, it's still not a substitute for Reflection by any means. Reflection just smells much more sophisticated. And it has a kinda thick almost tangible texture to it that lets you know that it is of high quality. Kinda reminds me of the thickness of Body Kouros.

^^ Will try it Larwiz, and report back.

^I never thought Joop smelled anything like Reflection, maybe joop shares a side of it's drydown wit Versace dreamer, and shares an overall profile with Original Santal, but IDK how anyone could mistake it for reflection, as Joop doesn't have any dry Orris/Iris notes at all. Plus, there's no discernable woody or incense notes in Joop AFAICT.

As for Body Kouros, it has a certain dry/powdery benzoin sweetness, but benzoin's powdery side is much different from the orris root accord used in Reflection Man/Arabian Nights. There is really no other scent which comes so close to Reflection Man.

No no no, I don't think Body Kouros is similar to Reflection. I'm just comparing the thickness of both. They're both very full and thick fragrances.
