The whole notion of women being attracted to men because of certain fragrances is offensive. Get real. Women are not butterflies looking for mate.

I tried it a few months back and it didnt seem ashy. I got a sample in nyc at the same time i tried it there, and i recently sniffed the sample. Ashy and smoky. I dont remember the bottle i tested in NY being smoky though, but then again, it was a while ago, and I was smelling so many frags that I could have gotten it mixed up. And then heperd gave me a sample that he said didnt smell ashy to his nose, just stronger than the original aventus, and when sniffed, it smells ashy. Im wondering if maybe all Aventus' smell ashy to my nose.

yeah. its too bad its so damn expensive though. its a shame that you have to pay so much for something a designer could probably do as well.

Cool Re: Which scent gets you the most female compliments?

    (I'm in my late 20's)

I've had compliments for the following from strangers / work colleagues:
JPG Le male, Angel Schlesser Homme, Chanel Allure Homme, Body Kouros, Escada Magnetism for men, Eau Savage.

GF likes: A men (Mugler), D&G the One, Opium.

Guys compliment me on: Giorgio men, Joop Homme and Chanel PM / Allure / Sport

I find women seem to respond to gourmand scents quite well (which work well in smoky/bar/club environments) and also clean/citrus smells.

Had a great compliment on Jaipur Homme EDT from a fitting room attendant.
Her: Mmmmm, you smell amazing, what is it?
Me: Told her what it was
Her: I love it, I've never smelt anything like it before!

Later on I walked past and she told her colleague that she "couldn't get enough of it" and that she should smell me as well!

I think Jaipur is an acquired taste but it's probably my favourite and as close to a signature scent as I have in my collection.

Jaipur is great stuff, I have the EDP and love it. The EDT is a beast in it's own right, both have monster longevity...

a bit spendy, but I think it's the best youre going to do, unless you buy a small decant or sample from someone on the forum. I would pick the latter.

Not sure if this counts, but my female colleagues are not really forthcoming when it comes to compliments, but my male buddies here are quite generous complimenting me.

Yesterday, I was at my desk when a male friend walked by, stopped for a few moments about 3-4 ft away from me, and said: "You always smell good." I said I probably put too much (which I know I didn't), and he said, "No, it's really nice."

I was wearing L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Hommme EDT, which is also my SoTD.

Well, if you want to attract young girls, there is only one word : Aventus!

Oh no, wait, forget it!...... Aventus attract ANY womens!

TJ - brilliant! absolutely spot on. and if I might add, based on all the comments regarding Aventus and its magical powers that can it can exert over women ("reeeeeaaaally??!!" - Jim Carey's quote, voice and intonation in 'Ace Ventura'), I will most definitely never buy this fragrance! I have been made curious by all the comments that I've seen about Aventus and tried it myself: it's PINEAPPLE! Fragrance and smell are very personal things and a matter of taste and obviously everybody (almost) would be highly biased and subjective when it comes to likes or dislikes but I would never buy or wear a fragrance purely to attract women (or attention). Having said that, I have posted a comment a few days ago mentioning that I have received compliments on the day I was wearing L'artisan Parfumeur Tea for Two, however, I was wearing it because I LIKE IT (with the emphasis on I).

You are stupid if you wear a fragrance JUST to "attract" womens and you don't like it yourself.....

I wear aventus, but I LIKE IT. Its just that since , for me, it attract very well the opposite sex, I choose it more for this. Lets say I go out, and then I open my closet and I have many frag there that I LIKE THEM ALL. I'll choose the ones I get more compliments on it. If I don't care of compliments (lets say I go to a serious meeting with just mens) I'll take a frag that is more "serious".

Theres no way I'm gonna wear a frag that I really DISLIKE just to attract women. For example, Kouros could attract more womens, I would never wear this stuff since it make me sick and disgusting.

+1 ! Its my 2nd most complimented fragrance, after Aventus being #1. Sadly for me, I can't use it anymore because I think I overused it. Just 2-3 sprays of it and I'm sick and don't want to use it anymore for 1 month! lol

Got one off my mate on:

    "Creed - MillÚsime ImpÚrial"

I like it, but it seems to have the same sort of 'ozone-y' note that SMW has? Which puts me off buying a full bottle :\

Well this thread convinced me to get an aventus sample. On me the most compliment getters have been:
Paco Robanne 1 million (however some have told me it smells too sweet)
    Chanel Allure Homme
    La Nuit Yves Saint Laurent
The One Dolce & Gabanna (about 15 minutes after i sprayed it on, doesnt count much)

Got a very enthusiastic response from a young lady in a restaurant the other night wearing Pomegranite Noir. I like it but it is one of those very 'in your face' fragrances that smell so loud you feel they must be staining your skin. This one is a sort of fruit bowl equivalent to A*Men. Not so bad when you get followed round by cute waitresses though.

On another note, 'Polo Black' got mistaken for a weird B.O. from a few people, and also along the lines of 'Old Man' and 'Brioche'...So yeah....That's probably not really a compliment in hindsight. Never mind. :P

The one you wear when you're on a mission to make every last woman you walk past double take. For me, I'd say it's Guerlain l'instant EdP, though I just got Dior Ambre Nuit and it's damn sexy. I'm hoping in the future it'll be Musc Ravageur.

Pure Havane sure seems to get their attention. I've never had a direct compliment on it from a lady, but they definitely take notice of it. At the mall, supermarket, where ever, waiting in line or browsing, a few women caught my scent cloud and inched in closer to get a better whiff of it. I remember one just stood there, closing her eyes and inhaling deeply.

Sometimes, I just think "Dammit, woman, it's ok to say I smell good, or ask what I am wearing", but then again, I've never complimented a stranger wearing what I thought was a wonderful scent.

A lot of people have also said that The Dreamer gets them compliments, but it hasn't garnered me any so far.
