Default Longevity - sillage problems with regular Issey Miyaki

My mum drove me to the train station. I would take the train to go to a big party.
In the car she said "I don't smell any perfume on you..." which she found very strange as I have tons of samples and 9 big bottles....

I was wearing 5 sprays of Issey Miyaki
2 to the chest, 2 to the throat and 1 on my wrist

How in the blue hell can she not smell anything??
And I must say, I also smelled it only barely....
Nobody made mention of it either, so it's not just my mum...

This surprises me because I read a lot about warnings to not over spray this.
    Does anyone have this to?
Or do I have a reformulated version?

I don't believe Issey has been reformulated - its very long lasting and potent here in the USA.

Now I can't stand to wear it because its just too long lasting and too much sillage.

Not me, personally. It lasts a loooooong time on me and remains very strong, BUT...

my friend's dad uses it and his complaints of it shortcomings are equal to yours. And a co-worker of mine says it doesn't last on him, either.

Chemistry? Diet? Skin type? All of the above?

All I know is some guy wore L'eau d'Issey to church some time back. He was sitting about 3 rows away from me, and I was gagging on the fumes...

maybe its a fake. L'eau D'issey has been known to be faked more frequently than others.

I can smell it from 3 blocks away and it stays on for 24+ hours. Seeing as how I intensely hate the frag I too have a problem with its sillage and longevity

Next time you go into town, spray some of yours on your wrist. Then go into a perfume shop and spray some of theirs on your other wrist. Spray some of theirs on a piece of paper too, and put it in your pocket.

Compare the three during the course of the day, things should then become clear.

L'eau d'Issey has always had a lot of sillage for me but it only lasts long when I spray it on my clothes. On my skin it lasts about 4-5 hours, but on a shirt I can easily smell it for the next few days. Either way, it leaves a long vapor trail. My girlfriend comments that she can tell what rooms I have been in when I wear Issey.

Yes it could be a fake since the bottle is so easy to be copied. This scent has a monstrous sillage and longevity I always smell it from those who wear it. Is this a new bottle? Check the details on the bottom and see if B.P.I. comes with dots or without dots (BPI = fake).

Your mother had either gone anosmic or had a heavy cold.

L'eau d'Issey PH, like Kiat says, has a monster sillage. It always gets noticed and has presence.

But then again, maybe your mom is anosmic to um.. calone, aldehydes, and yuzu?

It's more likely that you may have had a fake. (or turned juice) I have one bottle that's about 7 years old, has been through the sun, and have lots of room for oxidation -- and it's still intense and sills like there's no tomorrow.

This Issey is 100% NO fake.
I bought it in a official perfume store.

On the bottom of the bottle is "B.P.I", but not "B.P.I.".
    But it's certainly not "BPI".

It's amazing to me how people get monster sillage out of Miyaki.
Some people say it might have been my mum but I also didn't smell it for long.
And if I smelled my wrist it was there but very very very faintly.

But I noticed my sprayer is spraying minimal amounts, especially compared to my bottle
    of Chrome.

Plus why did Miyaki launch an intense version, if this is already very intense?

I think I'm going to do some testing with 10 sprays....

intense is pretty cloying sweet..a nice scent..but not bottle worthy...+ to me it only takes a few key elements of its peer, its by no means a intense version of the original merely in terms of concentration, if it is, then it hasnt represented the original well. like all suggested... try all pulse points and give couple of shots on shirt....
also, please try Bleue..its a very underrated scent which cud rock the daylights off...

Theory: It doesn't attack the sinusses. You will smell it more like others will smell it. VC&A vintage / Kouros you will also smell for a long time with light sprays but not with heavy dosage, because of blocked sinusses.

    1. Fake is always a possibility
    2. Maybe your parents are old like mine and just can't smell / hear / see like you can
    3. When you wear a scent, you get used to the scent and don't notice the smell VERY easily.

Im quite a fan and long term user of LDIssey PH, and i would suggest some squirts under the collar coz it may stain. Personal experience tells me its much better off left cool on fabric than simmered off from body heat. then again im from a very humid country and perspiration however minor would interact immediately with the scent on my skin and turn a little sour. 5 is actually the minimum for me. It settles to a breezy constant note quite soon after spraying. leme know how it goes for you. I usually have them Issey sprayed under the collar, behind buttons, areas of my fabric top that would not reveal any stains from the liquid. i have not noticed any signs of reformulation from about the 12 years of it being a constant in my closet.

Often the case...... well you could use a little pepper glass jar filled with coffee beans(remove the sprinkler cap), placed at your office, and sniff from the jar to neutralise the effects of the last scent you experienced, you should be able to detect the fragrance your wearing. The good ppl at Sasa first introduced this genius method many years back, for trying over 10 scents on single trip.
