As a house, though I don't like or own any of the scents I have to bow for Calvin Klein. He's one of the few designers, American or otherwise, that pushes the medium forward with originality and sets trends.

Donna Karan is the one I'd have to say is my personal favorite though. DK Fuel is in my top 3 and I love wearing Black Cashmere, both are very well made scents.

Tom Ford is a close second, his niche line is brilliant and his other scents very nice as well. All high quality.

Michael Kors scents are beautiful and have depth (plus his family is friends with mine so I have to say something nice).

Aramis has a stable of great scents from Aramis, to New West and Havana and others

Claiborne takes a beating but the scents are fun and colorful and not bad for throw arounds.

Perry Ellis scents are also good cheap fun scents.

    Cheers,
    Ali

I love Nicole Miller for men but she's a Canuck not a Yankee.

Tiffany for Men to me is the best "American" fragrance. But I do not think the perfumer was American.

    I also like:

Tom Ford Black Orchid, Tom Ford for Men, Tom Ford Extreme for Men, Tobacco Vanille
DK Fuel, Donna Karan Black Cashmere
    Narciso Rodriguez for Him
Ralph Lauren Polo, Crest, Safari for Men
    Michael Kors Michael for Men
Calvin Klein Calvin for Men, Obsession for Men, Eternity for Men, Euphoria Intense
Aramis Aramis, JHL, Havana for Men, Bermuda Tonic
    John Varvatos Vintage

Hmmm... best American designer scents... let us see...
Obsession for Men I "liek" the most, then (Original) Polo, and a bronze medal goes to Grey Flannel.

Isn't Bond no. 9 considered niche and not designer?

And my vote is for the Calvin Klein house.
