Default Men's complement for Chanel No. 5

My wife wears Chanel No. 5 exclusively (which I love). My signature is Guerlain Vetiver, and that works well at the office. What can I wear when we're out together that would best complement her? I've tried Terre d'Hermès and Chanel Égoïste, but I'm just not experienced enough to figure this out. We're both in our 40s.

    I would try:

Chanel Pour Monsieur (Original not the Concentree)
    Guerlain Heritage
Parfums de Nicolai - New York
    Creed - Bois du Portugal
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

I would say (and I believe a few on this board would back me up) that the best masculine scent to level up to the legendary No. 5 would have to be M7 by Yves Saint Laurent. Its structure and presentation is on par with the timeless classic.....they don't smell alike, really, but I believe they compliment one another.

Others that come to mind include Van Cleef and Arpels Pour Homme or Equipage by Hermes. Both strongly rooted in floral notes. For that matter, you may even consider Insense by Givenchy or Geir by Geir Ness.

    Good Luck!

Actually that is not all that funny or sarcastic......as far as being well made, popular, timeless, classic scents Old Spice really is the flanker to Chanel No. 5....as in Old Spice is to men what Chanel No. 5 is to women. I know Old Spice is Old School but if someone really is looking for a complement to Chanel No. 5 it might be one way to go.

I think M7 would be a good complement to Chanel No. 5.
