    Question Conservative fragrance ...help???

I am looking for some conservative fragrances for this comming fall. Scents that have lasting power and sillage.

Few come to my mind are - Polo Classic, Van Cleef & Arpel, and Tiffany.

Can any add some more to my list to check out???

Oh, the mind boggles at the possible answers! Must control myself!!!!

Perhaps Heritage for something classy or Burberry London for something reminiscent of a scotch and cigar filled gentleman's club? Of course, it's hard to go wrong with Polo.

Heritage is conservative. So is Chanel Pour Monsieur. And Bois du Portugal.

Don't buy Grey Flannel. It is nasty.

Here are just a few more ideas using your criteria of conservative, long lasting, and high sillage:

    Chanel Pour Monsieur concentree; Azzaro pour Homme; Carven Homme; Duc de Vervains; Habit Rouge; Heritage; 3rd Man; Safari for Men; Equipage; Bel Ami; l'Instant; Tiffany for Men;

Escada pour homme would be a beautiful choice, I think. (I don't have the longevity problems with this one that some people reportedly have.) I'm glad you are interested in Tiffany. It is a stunning fragrance, and it lasts for hours--

How about Armani Mania? Has a cedar and white musk scent on the dry-down, not very sweet and certainly not offensive. Longevity and sillage are decent.

I also enjoy that. I'd got there, Polo or Burberry London of course. I think London is perfect for what he is looking for.

Conservative doesn't have to be restricted to tobacco, woods, and spice. How about Acqua di Parma Colonia and Assoluta?

I'd also mention Caswell-Massey No. 6, and possibly Jockey Club, but one of your criteria, longevity, is a problem with these, I think.

Looks like many of us have a liberal concept of what constitutes a conservative scent.

Just so there is no confusion, this was meant as a compliment. Snafoo has a wickedly subtle and ironic sense of humor that I appreciate.

London !!!!!!!! My feelings are hurt. I adore this scent, but do not want it to be associated with being conservative.

Anything from Penhaligon's. Yep, I said, "anything". Some may be more casual than others but they all work well in a conservative environment.

I would also like to second the much earlier recommendation for Escada PH. I understand the longevity issues most people have as the initial kick quickly subsides . Also, there is such a drastic difference in the soft and warm drydown from the sharp and stinging topnotes that I think many peoples' noses are in some form of shock during the middle notes and perceive it as a weak fragrance. However, I am always pleased hours later to catch a whiff of the boozy, warm, cola-like scent on me. If you're one of the lucky ones, you will enjoy the men's club feel it engenders.

Oops. Forgot to mention Cravache from Robert Piguet. Similar in feel to other classics like Blenheim Bouquet, Boucheron, and Eau Sauvage. For me, the drydown really sets it apart. Not as soapy as BB; more distinctive/diverse than Boucheron; warmer than Eau Sauvage. It is a bit spicier and woodier than the others while maintaining a classic citrus twinge. My guess would be that patchouli is supporting and enhancing the other notes to achieve this. It is often overlooked as too similar to something more recognizable at first whiff, but give it a moment and you'll enjoy the development.

    I agree
