i have a question, is there a way to train ur nose?
i have been testing and smelling frags for quite a while now and im imagining that my my ability to distinguish notes and different families is getting better but im still struggling to get certain notes quite often, partly because i dont know how these notes smell in there pure form. its hard to pick up things when you dont know what you are looking for.
so, my point, is there a way to 'train ones nose the very basics'?
and how have you become so good at it, just practicing and testing?
didnt know where to put this thread but i guess its quite a newbie question so here we go
thanks in advance for all replies
sorry for double questioning, just found the old thread by afraafra..

Hey, Welcome to Basenotes.
Yup, you got it, just keep practicing to train! After you test a few scents, you can smell some similar notes, so just look up the note pyramid and you can get a good idea of what you are smelling. Read others experiences from the reviews or community discussions to see what others think and smell. There are also some kits they sell with individual notes so you can get a good sense of what they smell like. I think these are mainly for those that like to make their own perfumes, so you might want to check the Fragrance DIY subfoum. Good luck, and have fun!
