Default Use coffee while cooking to improve the aroma

I was cooking beans in a crock pot for several hours and I figured I could improve the aroma by putting some ground coffee into a sachet and throwing that into the pot. It worked great. It should work well for anything where you are going to throw the water out when you're finished (like potatoes).

That's very interesting. What kind of beans, and was their flavor affected by the coffee? Did you smell the coffee in the beans, or did it just help cover the cooking smell in your home?

I love to cook and like having kitchen aromas in the house (although not upstairs). My mom is the opposite. While growing up she made me cook my beloved liver and onions on the back porch in an electric skillet!

It just helped improve the cooking smell. It didn't have any affect on the beans or potatoes. Although you do end up with a few very fine grounds that get out of the sachet.

Ah, I think I see: it strengthens the aroma somewhat in the way that salt and fat heightens flavor. Thank you!

I LOVE liver and onions. My one hurdle to being a vegetarian! I like chopped liver too.

anyway I'll keep this tip in mind.
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations."
